Sammy Watkins joined the Buffalo Bills last year as a first round draft pick. Many argued General Manager Doug Whaley's choice was crazy but soon Watkins proved to be a star despite the Bills missing the playoffs yet again last year. That was last year, this year things are different, just ask Watkins.

The Buffalo News did a story on Watkins Thursday quoting him basically saying he isn't getting the ball enough. The story goes on to quote Watkins referring to other wide receivers in the league like Odell Beckham Jr. getting thrown to all the time. Watkins, according to this article says that is what he wants. He says if you force the ball to him he will either "catch it or knock it out".

The article goes on quoting Watkins several times about his lack of stats and lack of looks. The bottom line, if you read between them, is Sammy Watkins is right. He hasn't gotten the ball. One reason is he hasn't been on the field enough. Watkins missed the games against the New York Giants and Tennessee Titans because of a calf injury and although it seems he may be playing this coming Sunday against the undefeated Cincinnati Bengals, no one is saying for sure, at least not yet.

Another reason he isn't getting the ball some have said is because Tyrod Taylor is playing it safe. The Bills starting quarterback himself has had trouble this week with injury and some problems with consistency. Whatever the case is, Watkins makes a good point. With that being said, Watkins also makes it a point that if he does well, the team does well. Sammy isn't all about Sammy as the beginning of this article portrays. If you read on, you see that much is expressed. He is a team player. Yes, he wants the ball more but you can't argue with him about his notion of if he wins, so do the Bills.

Sammy Watkins has proved his worth in his short tenure with the Buffalo Bills. So far this season he has not been a factor. Can you imagine if he was? How well would the Bills be doing? Would they have lost again New England and the Giants? No one can say for sure but few could argue that the Bills are much better off with a Sammy Watkins high reception rate than without it.  Yes, he has been injured but when he is on the field, use him and use him a lot. He is a playmaker. In the words of a popular song, "Don't believe me, just watch."
