The Minnesota Vikings are now the only undefeated team in the NFL, after they beat the Houston Texans 31-13 at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Now 5-0 on the season, the Vikings head to their bye on the back of a comfortable victory which saw them start fast, moving out into a 24-0 lead midway through the second quarter.

Sam Bradford played turnover free football once more, completing 22 of his 30 passes for a pair of touchdowns to Cordarrelle Patterson and Adam Thielen, with the latter having a career day, registering 127 yards on his seven receptions.

Zimmer's squad move to 5-0 after commanding win

The Vikings fifth win of the young season was thier most comfortable yet, and looked likely from the moment they went 24-0 thanks to Marcus Sherels second punt return TD of the season.

Thielen was first into the endzone however, hauling in a perfect pass from Bradford down the right sideline as the Vikings opened with a eight play, 84 yard drive to begin the game.

A quick three-and-out from the Texan offence was followed by another solid possession for the home team which was finished off by Matt Asiata from a yard out. Sherels' return touchdown from 79 yards out was the standout play in the second quarter, as the Vikings took a 24-6 lead to the break.

A third quarter shutout from the both sides didn't carry through into the fourth, with Patterson showing great hands to go up and grab a Bradford pass in the endzone for his first touchdown reception in two years.

In garbage time, DeAndre Hopkins got into the endzone for the Texans, before the Vikings wore down the clock to complete a perfect pre-bye start to their season.

Injuries not holding Vikings back

The high-profile injuries to Teddy Bridgewater and Adrian Peterson would have derailed many teams, but Mike Zimmer has not allowed for this to happen to the Vikings.

Both starting offensive tackles, Matt Kalil and Andre Smith, as well as the team's leading wide reciever Stefon Diggs also missed this game yet it didn't show in a dominant performance.

The offence continues to get better despite struggling line play, scoring 24 points against a top unit from Houston on Sunday with 96 yards coming on the ground, and 271 through the air.

Over on the defensive side of the football, all three levels are playing at an elite level, and they have now conceded less than 17 points in their last nine matches. Sunday saw them hold Lamar Miller to 20 yards on the ground, with Will Fuller making just one catch for four yards, less than a week after the Vikings secondary held Odell Beckham JR to 23 yards on Monday Night Football.

Regaining health will be crucial during the bye before they had to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles who suffered their first defeat on Sunday, going down to the Detroit Lions.
