The USMNT and Mexico will face off against each other for the first time in over a year on April 15th. The game will be played at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX. This is the first time that the men's team will play a match in San Antonio.

According to U.S. Soccer, they have already sold over 55,000 tickets for the match. It will be a record crowd on hand to watch the two CONCACAF rivals face off. The previous record was set on January 29, 2014 when 54,313 were on hand to watch Mexico defeat Korea Republic 4-0. The Alamodome's capacity is set at 65,000 and there is a good chance of it being completely sold out come game day.

This is huge for US Soccer and San Antonio. How is that so you ask? San Antonio's has been a name thrown around recently as a potential landing spot to land an MLS expansion club. Back in December of last year, San Antonio was mentioned as one of four cities still in the running for the 24th and final spot. The other three are the teams in Atlanta, LAFC and David Beckham United (not the real name). Don Garber also has said that MLS will add a third team in Texas at some point.

With this many people showing up to support the U.S. national team, it shows how serious the fans in the city are about soccer. Some of you will suggest that it is only doing so well because they are playing Mexico. You may be right, but you can't look past the numbers. They are staggering. That city loves and supports soccer and they are clearly on their way to showing Don Garber that they mean business.
