The board of directors of the Liga de Expansión MX informed that two fans of Cancún FC were sent to the Public Prosecutor's Office after being detected shouting discriminatory cries during the first leg of the quarterfinals. According to the press release, both fans were detected by security agents at the Andres Quintana Roo stadium, when they were shouting at the visiting goalkeeper.

Cancun FC recently clarified that the two fans who made discriminatory chants during the match against Celaya last Thursday were removed from the Quintana Roo Stadium, however, clarified that they were not referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office, as stated by Liga BBVA Expansión MX.

"We make it generally known that indeed two people who did not comply with the regulations set by the Mexican Football Federation by making the homophobic shout, were identified and taken to the stadium offices where they were explained the offense committed, so they were invited to leave the stadium peacefully. They were not at any time referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office," Cancún FC wrote in a press release.
