And that's it. Liverpool drop two points at home to Burnley despite having a vast array of chances.
16:504 months ago

That was the chance

Van Dijk brilliantly picks out Alexander-Arnold, who fires one across the box for Salah. He's in a great position, but hits it straight at Pope. They surely won't get a better chance than that.

75' Van Dijk has to be alert to deal with McNeil's latest cross.
16:314 months ago

Work to do now for the champions.

GOAL! Liverpool 1-1 Burnley

And, out of nowhere, Burnley have levelled it! Jay Rodriguez!
16:254 months ago

Off go Pieters and Wood, on come Gudmundsson and Vydra.

16:224 months ago
64' Mohamed Salah wants a penalty after seemingly being bundled over by Tarkowski.

There might not be enough in it.

16:204 months ago
62' A blocked Wijnaldum shot breaks for Salah, who has plenty of goal to aim at. Unfortunately, he gets the shot all sorts of wrong and it balloons away.

16:094 months ago

Close again!

52' Westwood is dispossessed and Liverpool race away. Salah plays it into the path of Jones, who takes a touch and fires wide. It looked as if he'd finished emphatically for a split-second.

Burnley are clinging on.

16:074 months ago

Off the post!

49' Firmino just can't get that league goal at Anfield! Salah slips him through and he aims for the far corner but sees it come back off the inside of the post.

Second half

We're off again.
15:494 months ago
Liverpool the deserved leaders at the break, then, after creating plenty of opportunities.

But they can't afford to relax yet, with Burnley threatening on occasion.

15:474 months ago

Pope again!

And in the last action of the half, Pope tips away a Mane shot heading for the top corner. He's kept Burnley in the contest.

Burnley chance

15:354 months ago

15:224 months ago
22' Jones was of course a scorer on Liverpool's last Anfield outing against Villa.

Salah overhits a return ball to Mane to spare Burnley.

15:214 months ago

Big chance

21' Slick move from Liverpool. Mane lets Salah's pass run for Jones, who steps inside and has his shot blocked. An opener doesn't look too far away.
15:184 months ago

15:144 months ago

An apologetic hand raised by the Brazilian, who still awaits a first league goal at Anfield this season.

15:114 months ago

Almost...

11' An incisive long ball finds Robertson in the area where he's most dangerous, and he looks to square for Salah. A critical intervention from Kevin Long thwarts the Egyptian.

The head-to-head

Burnley haven't won at Anfield since 1974, when Bob Paisley was in the Liverpool dugout.

Under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool have won five of the seven meetings, last losing in August 2016.

That was an extraordinary encounter at Turf Moor which saw Liverpool fail to direct any of their 26 attempts on target. They also had a whopping 81% possession.

15:144 months ago

Last time out: Routine Reds win

For Liverpool, the only real concern at Turf Moor in August was an off-field incident.

On the pitch, they eased to a 3-0 win after a Chris Wood own goal and strikes from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

But Mane made further headlines with a furious outburst on the substitutes' bench, apparently directed at Mohamed Salah for his selfishness in front of goal.

Fortunately for the Reds, there have been no flare-ups between their two star attackers since.

Burnley team news

Burnley will be without a number of key players at Anfield.

Henderson's counterpart Ben Mee is out with a thigh injury, while Matt Lowton (foot), Jack Cork (ankle) and Ashley Barnes (groin) will also stay home.

Liverpool team news

The hosts have been dealt a blow with Jurgen Klopp's confirmation that captain Jordan Henderson will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury he sustained late on at Brighton.

Joel Matip is also sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.

Dejan Lovren is still nursing a knock.

Dyche's fresh round of plaudits

It was West Ham who were desperate for points when already-safe Burnley journeyed to the London Stadium in midweek.

And yet, the Clarets ran out victorious thanks to Jay Rodriguez's first-half header.

They sit 10th in the Premier League, level on points with 2019 Champions League finalists Spurs.

Sean Dyche continues to work miracles in very difficult circumstances. Can he guide his players to a famous result here?

Checking in on the record chase

After 34 matches, Liverpool have 92 points.

They'll need to win three of their last four matches to post an all-time record tally of 101.

Following Saturday's game, they face Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle in a tricky finish.

Brighton win more like it for the champions

Wednesday night saw Liverpool travel to Brighton in their third dead-rubber.

The champions had been emphatically beaten by distant runners-up City and limped past lowly Aston Villa since being crowned.

But at the Amex, they were approaching their slick attacking best, earning a satisfying 3-1 win.

Brighton were able to carve out more chances than Jurgen Klopp would have liked, but most importantly, his players looked somewhat reinvigorated.
