Whabi Khazri has established himself as Sunderland's set-piece specialist after a impressive display in the 2-1 victory over Manchester United.

Big impact

The Tunisia international has made a big impact in his three matches so far since his £9million move from French side Bordeaux, and his skills in a dead ball situation proved pivotal on Saturday lunchtime.

He opened the scoring only three minutes into the match when his low free-kick caught out David De Gea as it found it's way into the bottom corner.

Anthony Martial levelled things up for Louis van Gaal's side but Khazri was at it again with his corner being headed home by fellow Janaury signing Lamine Kone to secure a crucial three points.

Great feeling

The 25-year-old spoke after the game saying of his delight to finally open his scoring account for the Wearside club.

He told The Chronicle that although it was "good to score for the first time", it was "even better" that they managed to beat United.

He added that during his time in France he had "lots of success" with his set pieces and was "happy" that Kone goal's came from his set-piece, adding that he's "hopeful that it will continue" as it is such an "important part of modern football"

Time for rest

Sunderland's tought run of fixtures in the last fortnight have seemingly taken their toll, but with no FA Cup fifth round action this weekend, manager Sam Allardyce has taken the opportunity to take his side off to a hot weather training camp in Dubai.

Khazri said that it will be good to "recuperate properly" and "work on a few things" before their crucial match against West Ham on February 27.

Style of play

Many would expect players coming from other leagues would struggle with the physicality of the Premier League, but Khazri believes that the style of play will suit him.

He added that the English game is more "open" and "attack-minded", where as in France it is more "tactical and defensive".

Sunderland AFC will take on West Ham United on Febraury 27th with kick-off at 12:45PM BST.
