Italy midfield duo Andrea Pirlo and Marco Veratti both sat out of training ahead of their final EURO 2016 qualifier with Norway.

Due to a musculuar problem, Pirlo missed Saturday nights 3-1 victory in Baku, Azerbaijan which ensured the Italians automatic qualification for next summers finals.

Veratti on the other hand sustained a knock and missed training in order to recover.

It is unknown whether or not either player will feature in tomorrow nights game which could see Italy finish top of group H.

Pirlo is the most important player

Veratti, 14 years the junior to globally adored Pirlo, praised the veteran with over a century of international appearances in a recent interview.

Speaking to Gazetta dello sport the PSG man said that Pirlo is the "most important player" in the team and that they (the team) must make the most of his ability "for as long as we can.

He was quick to admit that he is one to "make the most of it" and speaks often to the NYCFC midfielder. "Even when we don't speak" he helps me he continued.

Invincible Italy

Antonio Conte's men have went unbeaten throughout their campaign winning six of nine games so far.

An opening match day 2-0 victory over tomorrows opponents, Norway got the ball rolling for the one time European champions and a 2-1 victory over Azerbaijan followed. It wasn't until match day four that they surrendered their 100% win record with a 1-1 draw with Croatia having narrowly managing to beat whipping boys Malta. Two more draws followed with Bulgaria and Croatia respectively before yet another slim victory over Malta broke their three game winless streak. In both of their last fixtures with Bulgaria and most recently Azerbaijan they have obtained maximum points scoring four across both games.

A defeat on Tuesday night would see Italy give up top spot for Norway but any other result would see them remain - and finish - top.
