Speaking with Tuttosport, Empoli star Riccardo Saponara has made his future clear, most importantly for Azzurri faithful stating it won't be "until June" he'd move away if a move came up. He gives the reason behind this being the fact he is "grateful" to Empoli.

Saponara has gained many plaudits for his performances while with Empoli under the tutelage of both Maurizio Sarri and now Marco Giampaolo

But come June, "who knows" what will happen the attacking midfielder continued. The player who, going into the winter break had both five goals and assists in 14 league appearances claimed he feels "back to the player" he was when he was with Empoli in the second tier between 2011 and 2013.

No regret about time with Milan

The 24-year-old said he doesn't think his "18 months with the Rossoneri" was in any way "a failure" but if he had to criticise something about his time, "I'd say myself" he added. "The responsibility" of how everything panned out at Milan was "mine" he also told Tuttosport.

The former winger only managed 8 appearances while at Milan, with those appearances totalling a mere 218 minutes of Serie A action.

Wants to get better

Saponara ended the interview on a higher note admitting he feels he can "develop further." Saponara has been an integral part of Giampaolo's team and been ever impressive in the midfield trident Empoli deploy week in, week out.

Reigning Serie A champions Juventus are just one of a host of clubs interested in acquring the midfielder, who sees himself playing in the league next year as he says, it is a league he likes "a lot." However, at the same time, he did say that he wouldn't necessarily rule out an "experience abroad." Roma, Inter Milan and Fiorentina have all previously been linked with one of Italian football's hottest midfielders also.
