Sampdoria are on the verge of completing the signing of free agent Daniel Pavlovic. All formalities of the deal are complete and all that is missing is official confirmation from La Samp Sky Sport Italia report.

28-year-old Pavlovic last kitted up for relegated Frosinone on loan from Grasshopper Zurich in his homeland, where he spent the majority of his playing career before being released upon return from his loan.

Last term he made 22 apperances for the minnows but was unable to prevent the club dropping out of Serie A after just a season.

Competition at full back will be plentiful next season at the club as they are widely expected to turn Dodo's loan stay from Inter Milan into a permanent deal in the coming days. The Brazilian who struggled to find form at Inter has shown glimpses of what he is capable of and it is perhaps down to him not being under the pressure of playing for one of the traditionally biggest clubs in Italy.

In a somewhat unexpected announcement, the Luigi Ferraris club announced they had terminated the contract of long serving midfielder Nenad Krsticic.

The Serbian, 26, had been with Sampdoria since he was 18 but injuries have limited him to just 101 appearances in the eight year spell in Genoa.

The club said they send their "heartfelt thankfulness" for his efforts for the Blucerchiati and sent him "most sincere good luck from president Massimo Ferrero and the entire club for the future of his career."

Krsticic is the second midfielder to leave the club this week after Fernando left for Spartak Moscow in a €12 million deal earlier this week having largely impressed in his sole season in Italy.

The 24-year-old Brazilian was one of, if not the best performer for Sampdoria last season who, despite an initially good start, settled for mid table in the end.
