Edin Dzeko is showing the Roma fans what they missed out on seeing last season with goals galore going into the next Serie A season. The Bosnia-Herzegovina striker hit the score sheet again against Montreal Impact in a 2-0 win wrapping up Roma’s preseason tour of North America.
Dzeko endured a tough Serie A debut season only netting eight goals in 30 appearances for I lupi.
Over all the friendlies Edin Dzeko has played, he has found the back of the net. The 30-year-old looks to already have secured his position up front for Roma coach Luciano Spalletti.
In their last game of North America, Luciano Spalletti fielded his strongest XI with Radja Nainggolan, Daniele De Rossi and Kevin Strootman to name a few all present. Dutch international Kevin Strootman looks more than ready to put his injury woes behind him as he looks fitter than ever. The timing of his stellar perfomances could not have come in a better time as Roma hope to end their trophy drought.
Roma seeking to put their success in preseason into the upcoming Serie A season
Diego Perotti also looks the part as he set up Dzeko’s first goal in only six minutes, Dzeko calmly put it past Montreal goal keeper Erick Kronberg. Roma doubled their lead on the 21st minute from a stellar pass from Mohammed Salah to Nainggolan who alike Dzeko slipped it past the keeper.
The Giallorossi were coming off an impressive victory against English powerhouse Liverpool a couple days ago. As mentioned the preseason tour of North America with this victory comes to an end and so the preparation for the 2016/17 Serie A campaign continues on home soil with the league starting in only two weeks.
Roma open the 2016/17 season at the Stadio Olimpico against Udinese on the 20th of August.
