That’s a wrap

That just about wraps up our coverage of tonight’s game.

There’s plenty of NRL action to come over the weekend so be sure to keep an eye on for all of the coverage.

But for now, I’ve been Tom Young, goodnight!

Full-time: Newcastle Knights 27-6 Brisbane Broncos

Full-time at the Central Coast Stadium as the Newcastle Knights cruise to a 27-6 victory against the out-of-form Broncos side.

It was another disappointing performance from Anthony Seibold’s men who remain without a win since the NRL’s return.

However its a return to form for the Knights who bounce back from last weeks defeat to the Storm in some style!

12:37a year ago

78’ | Successful conversion

Ponga doesn’t miss those. A perfect night with the boot for the Knights fullback as they cruise to victory here.

Knights 27-6 Broncos.

12:36a year ago

77’ | TRY Knights!

There’s still time for one more Knights score as Mitchell Pierce collects the ball five metres out and shows some nice footwork to skip past Haas and crash over under the sticks.
12:32a year ago

The intensity of the game has dropped slightly as the Knights cruise towards their fifth win of the season.

Meanwhile the Broncos look set to lose their fourth consecutive match since the restart and in all honesty, they’ve looked second best all night.

12:28a year ago

The Broncos are back to a full party as Carrigan returns to the field.
12:23a year ago

The Broncos are having a good go at this, despite being down to 12 men.

They are awarded a penalty in the Knights 20 after a late tackle on the fifth.

12:18a year ago

60’ | Penalty goal Knights

Bit of a strange decision given that they are playing against 12 but the Knights opt for the two and Ponga makes no mistake.

Knights 21-6 Broncos

12:17a year ago

59’ | Sin Bin Broncos

It’s a second yellow card of the night for the Broncos as Carrigan is sent to the bin for his late challenge.

Fairly straightforward call for the ref was that one.

12:16a year ago

Patrick Carrigan goes in very late on Mitchell Pierce as the referee awards the Knights a penalty.

The Knights players don’t take kindly to that effort and theres a scuffle between the two sets of players.

12:13a year ago

We have a first Captains Challenge of the night and its a successful one for the Knights who win the penalty for an illegal steal.

They’ll start their latest set in the Broncos 20.

12:12a year ago

It’s a bit of an arm wrestle at the moment but that’ll suit the Knights perfectly, as they look to close this one out.
12:08a year ago

The game is end to end at the minute but you feel the Broncos need the next score, and fast, if they are to get back into this one!
12:00a year ago

44’ | Successful conversion!

Kalyn Ponga remains perfect with the boot to increase the hosts lead to 13.

Knights 19-6 Broncos.

44’ | TRY Knights!

And they get that score!

Daniel Saifiti somehow manages to force his way over the line from close range despite looking to be held by three Broncos defenders.

Great desire from the big prop forward!

Half-time: Newcastle Knights 13-6 Brisbane Broncos

Half-time at the Central Coast Stadium as the Newcastle Knights lead the Brisbane Broncos by 13 points to six.

The Knights opened up a 12-point lead before Xavier Coates breakaway try halved the deficit for the struggling Broncos.

Mitchell Pierces field goal on the hooter narrowly extended the ‘hosts’ lead but it’s still all to play for here!

11:40a year ago

40’ | Field goal Knights!

The final play of the first half sees Mitchell Pierce nail a field goal to stretch the Knights lead to seven as they enter the sheds.
11:32a year ago

Jamayne Isaako is back out on the field after completing his ten minute spell in the bin.
11:31a year ago

30’ | Successful Conversion

Herbie Farnworth adds the extras from directly in front to reduce the deficit to six.

Knights 12-6 Broncos

11:29a year ago

29’ | TRY Broncos!

Well thats come against the run of play!

It has been all Knights as they look to make their man advantage count but it’s the Broncos who have got themselves back into this one.

The Knights were on the attack but it was Xavier Coates who read the play perfectly to intercept the ball on his own 10 before racing the length of the field to touch down under the sticks.

11:21a year ago

23 | Successful Conversion!

Kalyn Ponga makes it two from two to stretch the lead to 12.
11:21a year ago

22’ | TRY Knights!

The Knights show why they are one of the early pacesetters in the division!

Incredible vision from Mann who spots the overlap on the right hand side and dinks a perfect grubber kick towards Hymel Hunt who scoops the ball up and touches down in the corner.

11:19a year ago

20' | Sin Bin Broncos!

Jamayne Isaako is sent for ten in the bin after the referee deems he held down Kalyn Ponga for too long, preventing a certain Knights score. The Knights will have a fresh set in front of the Broncos line.
11:16a year ago

The Broncos have their tails up here and a set restart on the Knights 30 will give them a decent look at getting their first score of the night.
11:14a year ago

15’ | NO TRY Broncos!

The Bunker spots an illegal obstruction from Jamayne Isaako in the build up and the try is chalked off.
11:12a year ago

15’ | TMO Broncos!

The Broncos look to be in here!

Coates is over in the corner but is he held up? And does he keep hold of the ball?

They are all questions for the Bunker to answer as we head to the TMO for the first time tonight.

11:10a year ago

And now the Broncos are awarded a much needed penalty as the Knights advance too quickly.
11:09a year ago

The confidence is building for the Knights who are awarded a penalty as the Broncos defence is caught offside.

11:07a year ago

11’ | Successful Conversion

Kalyn Ponga makes no mistake with the extras.

The Knights lead 6-0.

11:06a year ago

10 | TRY Knights!

The Knights open the scoring at the Central Coast!

Its a very simple score for the hosts as Mitchell Pierce delays his pass to find Kurt Mann who crashes over for the opener here.

11:03a year ago

The Knights get back-to-back set restarts before putting the ball to ground on the first!

Still awaiting the first score in their one.

11:02a year ago

The Broncos put the ball to ground on their own 40.

The Knights will have a good look at the Broncos line here.

11:00a year ago

Both sides complete their first couple of sets with relative ease as the game gets going.
10:56a year ago

We’re underway!

The Broncos will take the first possession in this highly anticipated match!

Broncos poor run to continue?

The Brisbane Broncos have had a torrid time since the restart of the NRL, losing all three of their games since the return.

They have suffered blowout losses to the Eels and the Roosters before letting an 18-0 lead slip in their loss to the Sea Eagles last time out.

They need to get back to winning ways - and fast - as the pressure begins to mount on head coach Anthony Seibold.

Knights to get back to winning ways?

The Newcastle Knights will be hoping to get back to winning ways having suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of the Melbourne Storm last time out.

It was a poor first 40 that ultimately cost the Knights in that one. They’ll be looking for a fast start tonight against the struggling Broncos.
