The current champion
With a total score of 439.25, Ren Qian was the winner of the women's diving event from the 10-meter platform at Rio 2016. The 15-year-old Chinese became the second youngest woman in Olympic history to triumph in the 10-meter diving competition.
Two Mexicans in action
Alejandra Orozco and Gabriela Agúndez will compete individually, after winning bronze in the women's 10-meter synchronized platform. Both competitors are a very strong card for the Mexican country.
The favorite
The great favorite to win gold in this event is South Korea's Halim Kwon. At only 22 years of age, the Asian is looking to be crowned champion in the women's 10-meter dive. Her ability to twist and control her body make her a very strong competitor.
To get a good dive you need:
The jumps are differentiated by the jumper's approach to takeoff, the direction of the somersaults and spins performed, and whether the jump begins with a handstand (doing the pike). Scoring is based on factors such as the beauty of the jumper's movements, which combine three types of rotation (stretched, carpada and shrugged), and the amount of water displaced upon entry.
Gold is defined
30 divers will compete for the Olympic gold medal in women's diving from the 10-meter platform.
