Iikay Gundogan will not be signing for Manchester United according to the Daily Express, despite reporting the midfielder was set to complete a move to Old Trafford this weekend.

Gundogan's club, Borussia Dortmund, announced last month that the midfielder will be leaving the club this summer after declining a new deal at the club.

The German international seemed to be heading to Old Trafford, as Louis van Gaal is seeking reinforcements for his midfield, as he's wary of the ageing Michael Carrick.

After reporting the midfielder had agreed personal terms with the the club, and a fee agreed with Dortmund for around £20m, the move seemed to be sealed for Gundogan, however the Daily Express claim their source has revealed the midfielder isn't on United's radar, which leaves Arsenal in pole-position to sign him.

Dortmund's chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke revealed that midfielder doesn't have a future at the club, which will leave clubs around Europe vying for his signature.

He said: "Gundogan will be leaving Borussia Dortmund this summer, that is a fact. I am very confident we will see various clubs coming in for him.

"It has not been our intention to see him leaving. It was his ambition to move clubs there we agreed. We will sell him."

Gundogan will play his last game for the club against Wolfsburg this weekend, as Dortmund face Wolfsburg in the DFB-Pokal final.

If the Daily Express' source is wrong, expect the announcement of Gundogan's signing to follow after the final which could be this weekend or into next week.
