Liverpool are looking to steal Roberto Firmino from Manchester United, as the Brazilian seems certain to join the Red Devils.

With Firmino’s agent, Roger Wittmann already confirming he’s likely to move to the Premier League, it seems inevitable he’ll arrive in England this summer, however it’s in the hands of his club, Hoffenheim, to agree a fee for the player.

Despite United being favourites to sign the Brazil international, with reports from Germany claiming that the player will finalise personal terms of a deal when he returns from Brazil’s Copa America campaign, United are trying to get the midfielder on the cheap.

Manchester United look for cheaper Fimino price

United are looking to secure a deal for Firmino for around £13m however the German club are holding out for an offer closer to £20m.

This leaves United in a precarious position, as Hoffenheim could raise their evaluation of Firmino even higher depending on his performances in the Copa America

Liverpool monitoring Firmino situation

The 23-year-old’s situation is being monitored by Liverpool, with boss Brendan Rodgers considering to outbid their bitter rivals as the Red Devils have failed to agree on a fee for Firmino as of yet.

With United evidantly stalling, the interest from Liverpool comes as no surprise, as the Reds will be seeking a replacement for their departed captain Steven Gerrard

Firmino, who’ll be likened to Gerrard as a goal-scoring midfielder, has scored 49 goals in 153 games in his five seasons in Germany. He’s also notched three goals in seven appearances for Brazil.

Liverpool are continuing to look for additions to their squad, after confirming moves for former Burnley striker Danny Ings and for Charlton defender Joe Gomez for £3.5m.

With Firmino's future up in the air, it seems this could turn into one of the transfer saga's of the summer as United and Liverpool go toe-to-toe to persuade one of the hottest midfielders in Europe to join their clubs.
