Memphis Depay says that Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney is helping him a lot to learn more about playing in the Premier League, and improve as a player.

The 21-year-old, United's first signing of the summer, cost the Red Devils around £25million but is showing signs already that the potential he has been said to have by Dutch football fans is true.

Memphis has scored twice already in Champions League

Memphis, as he prefers to be known, scored twice in United's 3-1 win against Club Brugge in the Champions League qualifiers, their first match in the competition since the 2013/14 season.

The Dutch international says that "Wayne Rooney helps me a lot" because "he has a lot of experience." Anything that Depay is struggling with can be answered by Rooney because "he already knows everything".

Memphis says that "if I have any questions I can ask him." However, many are asking questions of Rooney, who has failed to score in four consecutive games this season.

He had a goal disallowed for offside on Saturday in a disappointing 0-0 draw against Newcastle United. Depay says that "it was frustrating" because although United "started great and sharp and created some chances" no one could "finish them off."

"In the second half" United "also created some more chances but again" Louis van Gaal's Reds "didn't finish". This has been a major problem for United, with the departure of Robin van Persie, Radamel Falcao and Angel Di Maria who together provided 18 goals last season.

Not being to score, "that was the frustration" for Depay and "when you look back" at not only that game, but also other games "you have to say" that United "have to start finishing."

As always though, a football must retain a positive attitude and that's something Depay has in abundance and he says United "have to look forward and train and be ready for Club Brugge on Wednesday."
