18:30 - Hello everyone I am Brandon Sayer and welcome to Vavel's coverage of Manchester United - PSV Eindhoven

PSV Eindhoven predicted XI (4-3-3): Zoet; Arias, Moreno, Bruma, Brenet; Propper, Hendrix, Guardado; Narsingh, De Jong, Locadia.

Manchester United predicted XI (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Rojo; Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger; Lingard, Rooney, Depay; Martial.

The game will be extra special for Memphis Depay as he joined United from PSV in the summer,  so he will go through the emotions, but after scoring in Eindhoven he will be hoping to score again against his former club to help his new team qualify for the next round of the Champions League.

The last time PSV visited Old Trafford was back in the 2000/01 season when they lost 3-1, and a repeat of that result for United would be great for them, but PSV will be confident as they lead the head to head 2-1 over three meetings with United.

Van Gaal knows the importance of the game against PSV on Wednesday, and especially as it's at Old Trafford as he feels "it is a stadium that has the highest inspiration" meaning when a player steps on the pitch at Old Trafford it's extra special.

PSV go into the game with a couple of injuries with both Jetro Willems and Menno Koch both ruled out with long term injuries, while Hector Moreno, Maxime Lestienne and Simon Pulson are all doubts for the game.

United go into the game with five players missing including Shaw, Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick, Phil Jones and Ander Herrera, but Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Maroaune Fellaini are back and available for the game. Bastian Schweinsteiger missed training as he was given the day off to recover, but there's no reason he can't play.

PSV drew 2-2 at the weekend in the Eridvisie against Willem II which was the only game they have dropped any points in during their last five games, and have been free scoring during this time, with Luuk De Jong their key man scoring plenty, and is someone United will have to be well aware of on Wednesday night.

United come into the game versus PSV in good form having won 3 in a row with the recent win a 2-1 win at the weekend away at Watford, and before the International break they had won 2 in a row as well, and United will be confident of adding to the run of victories on Wednesday.

Louis van Gaal gave an update on Shaw's injury at his pre match press conference saying that the defender was due to have another scan on Friday to see how his recovery from injury is progressing.

The game at Old Trafford will be the first game between the two clubs since the horrific injury that Luke Shaw obtained from a Hector Moreno tackle in Eindhoven in September, and the PSV defender could be in for some rough treatment from the Old Trafford crowd on Wednesday night.

PSV meanwhile are second in group B after defeating Wolfsburg 2-0 in their last match, and will be confident going into the match against United after defeating them in match day one 2-1 in Holland, and will have high hopes they can pull of a shock at Old Trafford.

United go into the Champions League, match with PSV currently top of group B after winning their last match at home versus CSKA Moscow, and can secure qualification for the round of 16 with a win against PSV.
