Nicholas Otamendi is desperate to move to Manchester United this summer and has said that he has left it to his agent to sort it out.

Last month Otamendi's agent told Valencia of his clients desire to leave, and when asked about this Otamendi says what his agent says is the truth.

Otamendi told ESPN that "Valencia know very well what I want,” and that “from there, every word my agent says is obviously with my authorisation."

Many players are dragged away from their clubs by agents seeking a pay day but Otamendi says that is not the case and that his agent "fully has my authorisation to speak with whoever he needs to."

The Argentinian says he has "had a talk with the president and my agent, and he knows very well what my wish is". However, he says that "for now I've told my agent that my head is here and I'm leaving it in his hands" because he can "do what he needs to do."

The stumbling block seems to his his £35m buyout clause which United are so far not keen to splash out that kind of money. It has been reported that Jorge Mendes will be brought in so that United will be able to negotiate the buyout clause but Valencia are saying no deal unless there price is met.

Otamendi is currently at the Copa America with Argentina and it is said that he has told his international teammates and his entourage of his desire to move to Old Trafford this summer. Argentina are likely to go far in the tournament so the move would likely have to wait a while to be completed.

Another stumbling block that has been suggested is that it is said that Mats Hummels is Louis Van Gaal's number one choice to bring in this summer as he has greater comfort in possession, but Hummels is keen to stay at Dortmund next season meaning a move for him is very unlikely.

United are not keen to spend the money on Otamendi but that will be a mistake if United miss out on signing him as he would be a perfect fit for the defence. Otamendi is even willing to accept a lower wage packet to facilitate the move to United and with the influence of Mendes it means he still has hope for the move to happen.

Otamendi is a great signing for the centre back position this summer as he takes no nonsense and he was also named in the La Liga team of the season. United desperately need another leader at the back and he is perfect for the job. United fans will be hoping that they pay what is needed and don't miss out on a fantastic player again.
