Rohr 63, last managed Burkina Faso till he was sacked in December 2015 but will now work with Nigeria for the next two years. The NFF made the announce today via its official twitter handle.

The Eagles have been without a substansive coach as the NFF failed in its bid to lure Paul Le Guen to the high profile job. It was reported that Le Guen was reluctant to relocate to Nigeria and preferred to be based in France while he travels down only when there are matches to play.

The NFF however, chosed Rohr after the German agreed to live in Nigeria and was unvieled to the public four days ago. Rohr is currently working with the German Football Federation on developmental programmes and he will be expected to organise something similar while in Nigeria.

Rohr took Girondins Bordeaux to the UEFA Cup final in 1996, where they lost to Bayern Munich over two legs, 0–2 away and 1–3 at home. Bordeaux's run to the final included a famous 3–0 win over AC Milan in the quarter-finals. From October 1998 until April 1999 he was sports director of Eintracht Frankfurt.

The former Bayern Munich and Bordeaux defender was shortlisted for the Burkina Faso job alongside former Eagles coach Stephen Keshi and former Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac but Burkina Faso FA decided to go with Rohr, offering the German a four year contract. Things quickly spirraled out of control and Rohr was sacked On 22 December 2015.
