The Lakers plan to wear their Black Mamba jerseys in honor of Kobe Bryant if they advance past the first round of the playoffs.

The jersey is set to be released on Aug. 24, which will officially be known in L.A. as "Kobe Bryant Day." It features a black background with the team's yellow trim and a snakeskin print.

That same week, Nike will be releasing five new Kobe 5 Protro colorways, along with the limited-edition “Black Mamba” Lakers jersey.

"A day doesn't go by when I don't think about him," LeBron James said about Kobe Bryant.

Los Angeles finished the regular season as the best team in the Western Conference at 52-19. They will play the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round, a must watch series. Led by Damian Lillard, Portland fought back from being 3.5 games behind the 8th. seed and secured the postseason spot.

In Orange County, August 24 is declared as “Kobe Bryant Day” as Bryant lived in the Southern California county. The Southern California proclamation day takes place one day after what would have been Bryant’s 42nd birthday.
