Coming fresh off a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame selection, the former Houston Rockets player and head coach Rudy Tomjanovich, has joined the Minnesota Timberwolves as a Player Personnel Consultant.

As a player, Tomjanovich won two titles with the Rockets in 1994 and 1995. He spent 11 years in Houston, making five All-Star games, and holds career averages of 17.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2 assists per game.

His last coaching tenure was with the Los Angeles Lakers where he served as head coach in 2004 for just 41 games. Prior to that, he served as a scout, assistant coach and head coach in Houston.

Tomjanovich holds a career 527-416 regular season record as a coach and a 51-39 playoff record.

According to the press release, Rudy T “will provide perspective on draft, trade and free agency prospects and processes for the Timberwolves.”

Minnesota recently landed the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, where they selected Anthony Edwards.
