Cincinnati Suspends Jarred Evans Following Arrest

Cincinnati backup quarterback Jarred Evans has been suspended indefinitely due to an arrest over the weekend on a misdemeanor assault charge.

University of Cincinnati backup quarterback Jarred Evans was suspended indefinitely by head coach Tommy Tuberville on Tuesday. 

Evans, who transferred to Cincinnati prior to the season from Santa Barbara City College in California, was arrested this past weekend on a misdemeanor assault charge. 

According to the filed police report, the quarterback punched a man which caused the him to fall to the ground, sustaining a concussion and a cut that would require stitches. Evans was arrested on Sunday before being released from jail on Monday. 

Coming into the season, Evans was the third-string quarterback for the Bearcats, who have Gunner Kiel as their starter and Munchie Legaux being his back up. Evans did see playing time this season, mostly this past weekend against SMU, running for 67 yards and a score on 10 rushes. 

The university is currently completing an investigation of the alleged altercation. Evans will be suspended at least until his court date of November 4th. 

Cincinnati (3-3, 1-1) takes on South Florida (3-4, 2-1) at home on Friday.
