It was a matchup between two teams with a lot to prove. Ole Miss was looking to prove that they were one of the best teams in the SEC, elite competition for the likes of Alabama and Auburn. TCU was out to prove the College Football Playoff selection committee wrong and prove that they did deserve a spot in the playoff. It was brutal matchup for the team from Oxford, MS, as the Horned Frogs punched them in the mouth right from the start. When it was all said and done, the TCU Horned Frogs absolutely destroyed the Ole Miss Rebels, crusing to a 42-3 victory.

TCU dominated the game right from the start. On Ole Miss' first possession, quarterback Bo Wallace threw his first interception of the game. Subsequently, TCU was able to score on a trick play, a wide receiver pass from Kolby Listenbee to running back Aaron Green, who as left wide open in the seam up the field. Later in the quarter, after another Wallace interception, Green would score on the ground and the rout was on in Atlanta.

It was not a clean game by either team through the first half. Each team turned the ball over three times, but TCU was able to capitalize on the mistakes. The second quarter saw a passing touchdown from Trevone Boykin to Josh Doctson. At the end of the quarter, Bo Wallace threw the ball from the back of the endzone right at a defensive lineman, who picked it off and scored a touchdown. At the end of the half, it was 28-0 Horned Frogs.

The second half started out great for TCU, not so much for Ole Miss. Kolby listenbee made a fantastic catch in the front corner of the endzone for a touchdown, and just a couple minutes later they scored again through the end. The game slowed down a great deal from that point forward, with the only other score coming on a 27-yard field goal by Ole Miss. When it was all said and done, TCU destroyed Ole Miss by 39, 42-3.

It was not a day to remember for Ole Miss quarterback Bo Wallace. In his final game in a Rebels uniform, he completed just 10/23 passes for 109 yards with 3 interceptions, giving him a passer efficiency rating of 57.2. As a team, Ole iss only ran for 9 total yards on 37 carries (including numerous sacks by the TCU defense). Markell Pack led the team in receiving with 4 catches for 55 yards. Kicker Gary Wunderlich was 1/2 on field goal attempts on the afternoon, connecting from 27 yards out and missing from 52.

Trevone Boykin, despite a couple of early mistakes, played well throughout the game. He finished 22/31 passing for 188 yards with 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions, the last of which came in garbage time on a tipped ball, giving him a rating for the game of 134.5. The team's leading rusher was Aaron Green, who had 67 yards on 18 carries and a touchdown. He also caught a touchdown pass. Josh Doctson led the team in receiving with 59 yards on 6 receptions with 2 touchdowns. Kolby Listenbee caught 3 passes for 45 yards with a touchdown, and he also threw a touchdown in the first quarter.

It was a rough ending to the season for Ole Miss. They started off incredibly hot, mowing down all their opponents and even taking down mighty Alabama. But they floundered at the end of the season, and a myriad of mistakes doomed them like they had all season long. The team allowed just 13.8 points per game through the regular season, but they could not stop the electric offense of the Horned Frogs. The Rebels were deperately trying to prove that they are one of the elite programs in the SEC, but they will need to start all over next season with a new quarterback following this incredibly disappointing and embarrassing loss.

For TCU, this game was an absolute clinic and an example for the national viewing audience of how good the team is, but thinking about their playoff potential will stay in the conscious of every fan and the program as a whole. This team has potential to make a run at a national title again next season, with the athletic, energetic and electric Trevone Boykin under center and Gary Patterson as head coach. Even so, the fact that the Horned Frogs were snubbed from the inaugural College Football Playoff is not something that will be soon forgotten in Fort Worth, as America will be wondering "What if?" about this team for years to come, especially as playoff expansion is discussed more. Nonetheless, this was a dominant victory, and TCU proved who the superior team in this matchup was.
