Wagner has won the opening coin toss and has elected to receive, defending the south end zone here at Alumni Stadium.

15 minutes until kick-off from Alumni Stadium. Crowd is slightly beginning to fill up.

The Eagles have taken the field and are running through their warmup regimen. Quarterback Patrick Towles is looking sharp, tossing short-patterned darts to his wideouts and running backs.

In the passing game, Seahawks quarterback Alex Thomson has completed 60.3 percent of his throws over the first two weeks, tossing for 415 yards and four scores with one intereception to boot. His most frequent targets are Brandon Peoples (six catches, 49 yards) and John Williams (four catches, 95 yards, one touchdowns).

LIVE from Alumni Stadium, the Wagner Seahawks are running through warmups, prepping themselves for their only contest against a Power 5 conference opponent this season. Players to watch for Wagner are running backs Denzel Knight, who has rushed for 251 yards and two scores on 28 attempts this season and Matthais McKinnon, who has garnered 116 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries in 2016.

The Boston College Eagles enter Saturday's matchup against the Wagner Seahawks of the FCS with the odds considerably in their favor, being touted as 39-point favorites.

The Eagles defensive front enters Saturday's contest ranked 28th in the nation in total yards against, 20th in the country with an average of 279 total yards against per game, 25th in the nation with a per game allowance of 172.3 pass yards, and 33rd with an allowance of 106.3 rushing yards per game. However, their average of 24.3 points allowed per game pits them at just 63rd in the country.

Boston College is coming off of a horrific outing in Blacksburg, Va., where they endured a disheartening 49-0 beating at the hands of an ACC foe in the Virginia Tech Hokies. In the contest, the Eagles surrendered 253 passing yards and five touchdowns to quarterback Jerod Evans, with wide receiver Isaiah Ford leading the Hokies with 91 yards and a pair of touchdowns. on four catches Boston College also allowed 81 yards on 15 carries to running back Marshawn Williams. Virginia Tech simply overwhelmed the Eagles in every aspect of the score sheet, racking up 25 first downs to Boston College's meager six, a stunning 476 yards to the Eagles' 124, and possession of the football for 35:15.

Heading into the game, Boston College's offense leaves a wealth of room for improvement, ranking 122nd in the nation out of 128 teams in total yards through three games. Their paltry 263 yards per game ranks them 126th in the country in that regard, while their 138.3 pass yards per game is just 118th in the nation. The Eagles are currently situated in a three-way tie for 124th in the country in points per game with an average of 13.3, paling in comparison to the 65.0 points per game placed by Heisman Trophy-favorite Lamar Jackson and ACC rival Louisville through the first three games of the season. In terms of rushing yards, the Eagles are in more promising company with 124.3 yards per contest. However, this figure still pits them in 108th place in the country.

Boston College quarterback Patrick Towles scuffled mightily against the potent Hokies pass defense, which has yielded the fewest amount of pass yards per game (80.3) out of any FBS team through the first three weeks of the 2016 season. Virginia Tech limited Towles, a fifth-year graduate transfer from Kentucky, to a paltry 80 yards and an interception on 9-28 passing. This culminated in an abysmal 14.3 QBR for Towles, dwarfed by Evans' impressive QBR of 86.4. The rough performance came on the heels of a rather solid showing by Towles in the Eagles sole victory this season, a 26-7 suffocation of Massachusetts at Gillette Stadium on September 10. In that contest, the Fort Thomas, Ky. native completed 12 of his 22 pass attempts for 191 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception while garnering a QBR of 39.1, which was deflated by his underwhelming completion percentage. Towles also made his mark on the ground in the win, gaining 66 yards on 12 carries before being limited to just 17 yards on five scrambles in the defeat at the hands of the Hokies.

Expect Towles to heavily target wide receiver Jeff Smith against the Seahawks. In Boston College's triumph in the Battle of the Bay State, Towles connected with Smith on five separate occasions which resulted in 98 yards and two touchdowns. The contest represented a breakout game for the sophomore, as he caught just three passes for 26 yards in his team's season-opening loss to Georgia Tech before being shut out last week against the Hokies. Smith is the premier weapon of the Eagles receiving corps, and expect Boston College to attempt to spread the field with his speed early on against the Wagner secondary.

Eagles fans should also be on the lookout for running back Jon Hilliman to receive plentiful touches against the Seahawks. Hilliman busted onto the scene in the season opener, breaking loose for a 73-yard touchdown scamper in the midst of his first 100-yard rushing outing since September 2015. Going up against a stifling Virginia Tech defensive front proved to be too tall of a task for him last week, as he picked up just a pair of yards on 10 touches, with his longest run being a strenous four-yard gain. The cringeworthy showing brought the yards per carry average of the stocky six-foot back to just 3.2 on the season, below his average of 4.1 yards per carry in his breakout, 13-touchdown freshman season on 2014. Facing an overmatched Wagner defensive front should provide the Eagles offensive line to create a plethora of holes for Hilliman to take advantage of, so expect Boston College to attempt to feature him heavily in the game plan starting from the outset of the contest.
