Andy Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs look to extend their winning start to the season when the New England Patriots come to Arrowhead Stadium as they look to make it four wins on the bounce under the guidance of talisman Patrick Mahomes.

The New England Patriots come into this game off the back of a 36-20 win over the Las Vegas Raiders and currently sit 2-1 for the season so far.

The Chiefs traveled to Baltimore in week three to take on Lamar Jackson’s Ravens and came back with a convincing win with Mahomes throwing for 385 yards completing 31 out of 42 passes and also coming away with five touchdowns (four passing, one rushing).

One thing the Chiefs have worked on improving this season is their ground game and in rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire they have got a running back who is comfortable both rushing and receiving and in Baltimore he put up 134 yards (64 rushing, 70 receiving).

For the Patriots it was also a convincing win last time out as they defeated the Raiders. It was the ground game that prevailed at the Gillette Stadium with Sony Michel rushing for 117 yards from nine carries and Rex Burkhead rushing six times for 49 yards.

The latter of the two was the difference for the Patriots as Burkhead rushed in two touchdowns whilst also getting himself a receiving touchdown, picking up 98 yards altogether.

  • Cam Newton out

The Patriots are going to be without starting quarterback Cam Newton who tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, making the ground game even more important for the Patriots.

The former Carolina Panthers player has thrown for 714 yards so far this season, picking up two touchdowns but also picking up two interceptions.

  • Can the Patriots get pressure to Mahomes?

In week two we saw the Chargers get pressure to the reigning Superbowl MVP and he struggled throughout until lobbing one downfield for Tyreek Hill to score.

Joey Bosa was Mahomes’ main threat off the edge as they got in his face and made it difficult and Bill Belichick will be hoping his players can do similar on Monday night.

Mahomes and the Chiefs have been rolling so far this season and it is difficult to see who is going to stop them after an impressive win in Baltimore.

With new weapon Edwards-Helaire from the backfield as well as having safe hands in Travis Kelce and speed demon Hill, it will take a top defensive performance from any team to stop them.

Newton is missing for the visitors which makes the running game all the more important, something the Chiefs struggled against in week two.

Score Prediction: Kansas City Chiefs 31-13 New England Patriots
