Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner spoke to the media ahead of the Terriers season finale against Arsenal. With Premier League safety already clinched, the focus turns to the celebrations by the club following being assured of survival.

"There will be a big celebration" after Arsenal clash

Wagner revealed that "we had a day off where I slept a lot! It is great" while paying tribute to everyone involved in the club's historical season: "this team and I would like to thank everybody: the backroom staff, the players, the fans and the board. It feels unbelievable.” 

As a tribute to his club's remarkable achievement, the German said following the home clash against the Gunners “there will be a big celebration party after the game on Sunday for the people at the club”.

Wagner says club will pay tribute to Wenger in his last game

Today is the final game for Arsene Wenger as Arsenal boss after 22 years and Wagner stated that “We will give Wenger a guard of honour and the club has a present as well”.

He also said “I am so happy we are able to host Wenger in his last Premier League game after 22 years - especially in these circumstances”.

"Only a small part of club's success" this season

In hailing the club's survival, the gaffer assessed “This football team was only in the bottom 3 once this season and secured its status one game before the end.”  He exuded his happiness, saying “I am very, very proud and happy that I was able to be a small part of it”. 

He is looking ahead to next season: “Like always we will have to discuss a lot of things - not only transfers but improvement of the facilities. This club is ambitious and has space to improve - and likes to improve”.
