Sergio Agüero sealed a hard-fought point for Manchester City in their final visit to West Ham's Upton Park - in the dying embers of the fixture. The talented Argentine, who has been plagued with frequent injuries in recent months, has now scored six goals and created three assists in all competitions since the start of 2016, as he gradually returns to full match fitness.
After their 2-1 away victory at the Ethiad, Slaven Bilic's side were equally bullish about their chances of another win in this meeting too.
Hammers start fast, and are rewarded
Enner Valencia broke the deadlock within a minute - after a driving run forward into the area by Cheikhou Kouyate, brushing past Yaya Touré as though the powerful Ivorian was not even there.
City were behind within a flash, and rightly shocked. Their backline was ripped to shreds so easily, players were caught ball-watching and although Joe Hart would have been disappointed to concede, his vision was impaired by the figure of Martin Demichelis in-front of him.
Citizens eager for rapid response
The second quickest Premier League goal this term, the Citizens were eager for a rapid response of their own. Agüero was inches away from scoring a brilliant clipped finish - it rattled off the post as the forward spotted Adrían off his line.
Aguero continued in the same menacing fashion and was brought down in the area by loanee fullback Carl Jenkinson, who came across and caught him with his trailing thigh. Arguably unlucky considering the Arsenal right-back did win the ball, but the referee pointed to the spot. Aguero rarely misses, and he cooly slotted home to equalise.
Hart forced into great stop
Dimitri Payet forced an excellent save from Hart to keep the scores level before the break, after Demichelis was lucky to only be shown a yellow after deliberately halting play as the Hammers were driving forward on the counter, and he was the last man.
In the second-half, City's defensive frailties reared their ugly head once more. 11 minutes after the start of the second-half, Valencia was gifted with a true poacher's goal - firing underneath Hart from close-range after getting past Nicolas Otámendi and taking advantage of a quick throw-in from the far side.
Inspired substitutions as sky Blues snatch point
2-1, it was time for some alterations. Raheem Sterling and Kelechi Iheanacho were introduced, the latter of which was credited with the equalising assist. A tireless effort from the talented young Nigerian, roaming forward through midfield, he fed Aguero and Sergio levelled the scoring once more with a side-footed finish.
Despite a frantic finale, the scores remained level and although the visitors have Aguero to thank, it's another two points dropped for a side eager to maintain consistency as the business end of the Premier League campaign intensifies.
