Alan Pardew has urged his players to improve after seeing his team lose three in a row in the Premier League.

The horrendous spell for the Magpies has seen them concede 11 goals in defeats to Everton, Southampton and Manchester United.

"I think we're well aware of where we are.

"We can play better than we did, for sure," said Pardew.

Stoke City have been in contrasting form to Newcastle, winning three of their last five games.

Pardew said: "We've got to make sure we put in a a really strong performance. We've got to be solid right through the 90 minutes."

Last week saw Stoke City suffer a 3-0 defeat at Chelsea.

"It's a wake-up call because we've got five games now that we expect to take a lot of points from.

"The fact we didn't perform well will help us to re-focus on what's required at this level. We are a good group and we've got that self-regulation," Mark Hughes said.

Despite both sides heading towards midtable, the game still has some importance to Mark Hughes.

"We want to able to look back on the season with pride, tomorrow is a big game for us and one we are looking forward to," Hughes told reporters.
