The impact Zion Williamson has had, not only on the court but from a marketing standpoint for the NBA is unlike any other we've seen in the last decade or so.

The New Orleans Pelicans rookie has now been announced as the  NBA 2K21 cover athlete for the Next Gen consoles. He's the youngest player ever to be in the cover of the video game.

This was kind of expected, since Zion was the player who featured on the video game preview when they released its trailer along with the presentation of the new Sony’s next-gen Playstation 5.

“Realizing that I am going to be on the cover of NBA 2K21 was one of those moments that I am still processing,” Williamson told Sports Illustrated.

Williamson signed a deal with Jordan Brand for a record rookie sneaker deal worth $75 million over five years, a five-year deal with Mountain Dew and a multiyear deal with Gatorade.

The 2019 No.1 Draft pick joins Damian Lillard as the second of three NBA 2K21 covers.
