Edu and Bruno Mazziotti have a relationship that stems back years, most notably the time they spent with the Brazilian national team together.

Mikel Arteta is looking to add to his backroom staff after previous Head of Physiotherapy Chris Morgan left the club in the summer for Premier League rivals Liverpool.

  • Who is Bruno Mazziotti?

Mazziotti is a highly thought of medic who has been with Corinthians and Brazil in the past. The Brazilian is now with Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 but he is working to find a way out of this contract and according to The Athletic, he will join Arsenal once he leaves the French outfit.

The 42-year-old is highly regarded by many having worked with the likes of Thiago Silva and Neymar, the latter of which he helped recover from a metatarsal injury in 2018.

With only four months to go before the 2018 World Cup, Neymar suffered a broken metatarsal which looked the potentially rule him out of at least the opening weeks of the tournament but 'miracle worker' Mazziotti managed to get the global superstar fit and ready for the start of the tournament.

  • Edu's Influence

Edu's influence will no doubt play a major part in getting Mazziotti in as part of Arteta's backroom staff. The two have worked together in the past, both with Corinthians and Brazil, forming a good relationship with each other with the former midfielder now trying to bring the medic to Arsenal amid their injury problems over the last few seasons.

Arsenal's Technical Director has said to have been impressed with Mazziotti's work in the past and he would be joining a squad with a fair few Brazilian players in with the new arrivals of Gabriel Magalhaes and Willian along with David Luiz who was already with the Gunners.

It will be key for the North London side that the medic will be able to stop the injury worries which have hindered the side over the last few seasons. If he is able to prevent the risk of injury then this could be the difference between the side challenging the top four or finishing in the Europa League places.
