Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has called for "better organisation" in his side if they are to have any chance of gaining a result against Chelsea this weekend in the Premier League.

The Austrian boss did also admit he not to "expect the best game from us" (Southampton) at the current time, as he spoke to the club's official website ahead of the match.

Southampton will travel to Stamford Bridge for their fifth fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League with the prospect of facing a whole host of new Blues personal acquired over the summer.

Signings which Hasenhuttl has plenty of admiration for although he did acknowledge that alone doesn't make a winning formula, he said: "We see the signings and they are fantastic, but it is not surprising that other teams have more individual quality than we have or more expensive players, or higher wages.”

“When we look at it like this, we have no chance against a lot of teams in the Premier League, but the good thing is it’s not the best single players winning games, it’s the best teams winning games."

  • “We must be the better-organised team”

Southampton will be looking to pick up where they left off prior to the international breaks having picked up wins against West Brom and Burnley, having lost their opening two fixtures.

To do that Hasenhuttl says his side will have to have their organisation spot on, he said: “We must be the better team and the better-organised team – this is the only chance for us to win against such teams, and this is the goal for the weekend.

“The good thing is in one game anything is possible, and we go there to be as competitive as possible to take as many points as possible.”

Both sides are of course in action following a two-week international break in which Saints had eight first-team players in action, and Chelsea eve more, which has taken its toll on the squad.

Needing time

Hasenhuttl added: “It would be better if we had a bit of time to work together before – this is definitely something that we are missing this week, but the opponent has the same problem,”

“We don’t expect the best game from us at the moment, but they are also struggling with a lot of players going on international travels, so the team that finds quicker in the game and better in the game has a big chance to win it.”

Southampton will kick-off at 3 pm Saturday in the only Premier League kick-off at that time, with all the build-up, coverage and match reaction available here on Vavel.
