Ronnie O’Sullivan won his second consecutive Champion of Champions title as he triumphed over Judd Trump 10-7 in a thriller that ebbed and flowed.

O’Sullivan cruised into a 6-3 lead after the first session, as he notched up three total clearances in the process, 134, 137 and 139.

The five-time World Champion raced into a 2-0 lead in sublime fashion after breaks of 137 and 78.

Trump forced his way back into the match and ensured he went into the mid-session interval level after a scrappy third frame with three 30 plus breaks, he clinched the fourth in similar fashion after Ronnie ran out of position.

After the interval, Ronnie immediately took the lead with breaks of 50 and 87, he then extended his lead back to two frames with an imperious break of 80.

The Juddernaught again clawed himself back within a frame of O’Sullivan after he won a safely battle which left him the chance to clear up.

This was in vain though, as two exquisitely executed clearances saw O’Sullivan break away from Trump and take a three frame gap into the evening session.

Ronnie showed he hadn’t cooled between sessions as he masterfully rattled off the first two frames of the second session to bring himself within two frames of retaining the title he won last year.

Trump hung on to O’Sullivan’s coattails, in the space of 40 minutes Judd won four frames on the trot to reduce the deficit to one frame.

The Rocket showed all of his class to secure the title, winning the last two frames and claim his first tournament win of the season - albeit a non-ranking tournament.

Both players will be aiming to transfer the form they've showed over the past week in The UK Championship which begins later this month at The Barbican centre in York.
