Fabio Borini made an £11 million switch from AS Roma to Liverpool FC in July 2012. He was revealed as a Liverpool player on the 13th July 2012, taking the number 29 shirt for the Reds. He started in their first few games of the 2012-13 season, but soon broke his foot in a training session for the Italy under-21's. Soon after his return from injury, he came off the bench in Liverpool's 5-0 demolition of Swansea. However, whilst engaging with Swansea's Ashley Williams, Borini fell awkwardly and dislocated his shoulder, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.

Then, he joined Liverpool on their pre-season tour after helping Italy to the final of the U21 European Championships. Despite featuring for Liverpool during pre-season, he was loaned to Sunderland for the entirety of the 2013-14 season. But since returning from an impressive loan spell, rumours have been circulating about his future. Here's why the Merseyside club should keep hold of the now 23-year old Italian.

Borini may not be the fastest, or the most agile of players, but what he lacks in movement, he more than makes up for in technical ability. He has fantastic ball control and outstanding vision, allowing him to terrorise defences from numerous positions. Having played as a striker at Liverpool, he was moved to a wide left position for Sunderland. He excelled out wide, cutting in occasionally to shoot or make a defence splitting pass.

However, will Brendan Rodgers want to keep the youngster? With Suarez out until the beginning of November, Borini could be a suitable player to fill in for the Merseyside club during this time period. In addition, Liverpool are in the Champions League, meaning they’ll need a larger squad size. However, it could be more beneficial to let the Italian go and bring in more promising talents for the season.

With the transfer window opening next week, anything could happen. However, Borini will do all he can to keep a place in the changing room at Anfield and stay at the Merseyside club.
