Jadon Sancho

A priority for Manchester United for the 2020/21 Premier League season has to be a right-sided attacker. Too often are United seen using their left flank to damage the opposition, and the predictable nature of the side makes them easy to defend against. When teams are able to isolate Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, the Reds look toothless in the final third and struggle to create goal-scoring opportunities.

English right-winger Jadon Sancho will bring the balance that United need, as well as the world-class ability that the right-hand side has been missing for many years. With 73 goal involvements in 90 matches for Borussia Dortmund, Sancho has proven his class since leaving United's rivals Manchester City in 2017, having made no first-team appearances for The Citizens.

Still just 20, Sancho will undoubtedly improve in the future, and, should he reach his potential, will become one of the most lethal attackers in world football.

An attacking trio of Martial, Rashford and Sancho at United will be enough to challenge any front three in the world, and with Mason Greenwood and Daniel James waiting in the wings to take any of their places, competition and work rate will be high, propelling each of them to being the best they can possibly be.

With youth on their side, there truly is no ceiling for the levels these players can reach together at Old Trafford.

Thomas Partey

With United's front line ready to cause havoc across the country, the next priority will be having a player who can assist the transition from defence into attack, whilst helping solidify the side's defence.

Bruno Fernandes has done an exceptional job of taking up creative responsibilities, something Paul Pogba can aid with, if and when he returns to full fitness for the club, and Scott McTominay has surprised many with his ability this season. However, if United are to be taken seriously as title challengers, the latter needs an upgrade.

Thomas Partey would be the strong, powerful, enforcing midfielder that United need, with all the ability, and more, of McTominay.

During Atletico Madrid's recent UEFA Champions League victories over Liverpool, Partey controlled the midfield, helping his side reach the quarter-finals in the process.

During the second leg at Anfield, Partey made 12 ball recoveries, as well as five tackles, four interceptions and four clearances against the runaway Premier League leaders. An impressive audition for prospective English suitors.

Speaking to Passione InterDaniel Jimenez revealed that there is a "€50m release clause" in the player's contract, making him not only the ideal player for United, but also an affordable option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

A strong, fast, dominating midfielder, Thomas Partey would be the ideal upgrade on Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic, both of whom would occupy squad roles in the 2020/21 title-winning season for United, and his price tag will make him an addition the club cannot afford to miss out on.

Kalidou Koulibaly

Once United have a trio of attacking flair, and a world-class midfield, they need a rock-solid defence, because, as Sir Alex Ferguson once said: attacks win matches, defences win titles.

The additions of English centre half Harry Maguire and full back Aaron Wan Bissaka last summer have improved United's backline considerably, but it still has its frailties.

David de Gea has looked weak when challenged for crosses this season, in a similar vein to when he was first introduced to the Old Trafford faithful in 2011, whilst Victor Lindelöf’s lack of aerial ability has been a target for opposition attackers time and time again.

Kalidou Koulibaly, on average, wins 6.1 duels per game, compared to Lindelöf’s 4, making the Senegalese man a crucial improvement to United's defence, and a better fit to protect De Gea from crosses into the box.

Strong defensive backlines have brought the club unprecedented levels of success through the years. A pairing of Maguire and Koulibaly, alongside Wan Bissaka and Luke Shaw  or Brandon Williams can see United return to their former glory.

Champions again

Should United make these three signings, their overall squad balance, as well as the quality of players within the team, will be dramatically improved, making them true contenders in the race for the Premier League title.
