Manchester United beat LASK Linz 7-1 on aggregate in the Europa League Round of 16 on Wednesday night.

The European competition is the last chance of winning a trophy this season for the Red Devils.

Questions were asked when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer started David de Gea in the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea considering Sergio Romero has become the 'cup competition goalkeeper' as of late.

Solskjaer refused to state which goalkeeper will start in the quarter-final but insists he will pick a team that could win his side the tournament:

"He's played well tonight, definitely. I'm not going to say Sergio is the Europa League keeper, it is between him and David all the time. We are going to pick a team that we think is going to win the tournament.

"We will make changes and now we travel to Germany with a squad that has had enough game time. These players needed to play tonight to get the rhythm and their confidence up. It won't be the same team, we will make changes."

The rest of the tournament will follow a different layout than the usual knockout rounds. All the ties will be one match compared to the two-leg style traditionally used in UEFA competitions.

Solskjaer discussed how he will approach the new format: "It'll be a mini tournament and there are rules and regulations for the bubble and travel. We have to stay together in and around the hotel and the training ground, let's see how long it lasts. Hopefully more than two days and hopefully more than 12 days, we will coach it one game at a time."

  • Alexis Sanchez has left United

The big news that surrounded Old Trafford during the match was that Inter Milan had completed the signing of Alexis Sanchez. Solskjaer later commented after the match:

"I can confirm he has agreed and we have agreed, Alexis enjoyed his time there and we wish him all the best. He is a top player and for whatever reason, we didn't see the best of Alexis."

  • Maguire will not burn out

One name that shocked a few in the starting lineup against LASK was Harry Maguire. After starting every Premier League many expected the skipper to be rewarded with some time off, however, he started and played the full 90 minutes.

When asked why, Solskjaer said that he is just desperate to play:

"He is the captain and there is a reason he is always wanting to play. He has missed one or two games this season through injury, he gets sharper and sharper each time he plays. He will get his time off after this tournament so there is no worries about that (burning out)."

United will play F.C. Copenhagen in the quarter-final on Monday in Cologne, Germany.
