The transfer season can be a challenging time as clubs battle to try and get the best players so they’re ready for the next season. It can also be a time where clubs have to say goodbye to their most valuable players as their contracts end, as well as other reasons.

For Crystal Palace, it may be time to say goodbye to a vital player, Wilfried Zaha. Zaha’s youth career begun at Palace and progressed into his senior career where he stayed until 2013, leaving for Manchester United, after Palace had just been promoted to the Premier League.

During his short time at United, he was loaned out to Cardiff City, before eventually returning home to Palace, firstly on an initial loan deal, before the Eagles made the transfer a permanent one in 2015.

During the last five years, Palace have seen Zaha become a crucial player who’s talent doesn’t go amiss. Some may even go to say that Zaha has had a vital role in maintaining Crystal Palace’s status in the Premier League but the time has come to potentially say goodbye to the forward.

Zaha has shown an interest in wanting a new challenge for the 2020/21 season, but where could he be headed off to if Palace receives a reasonable offer for him?

Where could Zaha go?

If Zaha were to stay in the Premier League there are a few potential clubs he could make the move to, one being fellow London club, Arsenal.

Many would remember in last summers transfer window Arsenal had shown an interest in signing Zaha but wasn’t prepared to pay the £80 million fee that Palace had put on Zaha.

This could be potentially the reason that Arsenal currently hasn’t put in an offer for the forward as Palace has a huge price tag that comes with Wilfried Zaha. Another team that has shown an interest in the past is Everton, who could be a great addition to their team but is it the kind of challenge that Zaha wants?

Fellow Palace player, Andros Townsend, recently stated in an interview that Wilfried Zaha should be playing in the Champions League, could this mean a move abroad for Zaha?

While there have been rumours that Barcelona has been thinking of putting in a bid for Zaha, which could be the challenge that Zaha is dreaming of, he could also potentially fit into German side, Borussia Dortmund, while nothing has been said on the German side making a bid there were rumours back in the 18/19 season that they were planning on making an offer.

If Zaha got signed by Dortmund it could do huge things in terms of progressing his career and being in a team where each game will come with a new challenge.

While we still have till the 5th October until the transfer window ends, it will be interesting to see what clubs will be putting in a bid, and how well Crystal Palace negotiate a deal that will see one of their best players leave Selhurst Park for a new challenge.
