Cameron Brannagan was full of praise for the senior players at Liverpool as himself and a host of younger players held West Ham to a goalless draw in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup at Anfield.

The 19-year-old is becoming a hot topic around the club's Academy after making the step up to the first-team as manager Jürgen Klopp once again opted for youth to try and beat the Hammers.

The Reds had a number of young starters alongside the Manchester-born midfielder, including Kevin Stewart, Joao Carlos Teixiera and Brad Smith - with the quartet finding their feet quickly in front of a packed home crowd.

Outstanding goalkeeping from stand-in shotstopper Darren Randolph was the only thing that denied the home side a deserved win as Klopp's youthful side exerted themselves well.

The 0-0 draw means that Liverpool face a replay against the Londoners at Upton Park, in what is likely the worst result for the side that has played nine games across their last 29 days already.

Training at Melwood is a big help, says Brannagan

Brannagan was quick to share his appraisal of the first-team players at Anfield with the guidance they offer outside of a match-day described as a "massive boost".

He said Liverpoolfc.com that training with the team at Melwood "really helps" the club's youngsters, adding that it's good to be "around the first-team" every day, saying: "They give us the boost"

Liverpool's No.32 thanked the first-team players for helping the younger players to earn the replay, insisting that the senior players "helped us through it."

Reflecting on the result itself, the 19-year-old believed his side were unlucky to not be advancing over the 90 minutes but said he is "hopeful" regarding the replay in East London.

He said: "Going forward we were great, created some good chances, [we were] unfortunate it didn't go in the back of the net.

Brannagan said that they "hopefully" can "do the job" in the replay, which will be scheduled some time next month in a busy February.

Under the supervision of captain Joe Allen, Liverpool managed to keep Slaven Bilic's side at bay as both goalkeepers added another clean sheet to their resume.

The younger players are likely to feature in the FA Cup replay against West Ham as Klopp's fixture list keeps continues to grow.
