Sheyi Ojo is set to join Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers on a season long loan.

The move comes following an impressive pre-season with the Liverpool first team, which was capped off with an excellent goal to seal the win against Swindon Town this past Sunday, in Liverpool`s final pre-season clash.

The Englishman only turned 18 over the summer and, at such a young age, has already captured the imagination of Liverpool fans, as they envision him as a future star around Anfield Road.

Road to the Midlands.

The Hemel Hempstead born footballer grew up in the MK Dons academy, playing alongside the like of Dele Alli, before the talented youngster was snapped up by Liverpool when he was just 14, as the Anfield club beat the likes of Arsenal, Man United, and Chelsea to his signature.

Always impressing at both under 16 and under 18 level, Shey Ojo never made the step up to being an eye catching talent at under age level. At the beginning of last season, just a few weeks after his 17th birthday, Shey Ojo put together a number of breath taking performances at under 21 level, namely, against West Ham, before the youngster was named on the first team`s substitute bench against Burnley on boxing day.

Another Championship loan

Next Ojo managed to secure himself a loan spell to Wigan Athletic, and despite their relegation, it was a sensational feat for a player of 17, playing in the competitiveness that the Championship provides. Making 11 appearances for Wigan, Ojo managed to show the exciting and courageous side to his game, picking up the man of the match award on his debut against Bournemouth.

However, the player never seemed to add game changing moments to his game at Wigan, which was so evident in his outings with Michael Beale`s under 21 side.

Could he follow in Jordon Ibe's footsteps?

In terms of similarities, Jordon Ibe, at 18, went on loan to Birmingham City towards the end of the 2013/2014 season, where he put together a few impressive displays, and Birmingham managed to survive relegation to League 1 on the final day of the season. The following season Ibe joined Derby County, a team of similar stature to Wolves, with both clubs targeting automatic promotion. Following an impressive first six months for the former Wycombe man, Ibe was recalled to play with Liverpool, and is now seen as a firm first team fixture.

Wolves narrowly missed out on the four play-off places last term, however, manager, Kenny Jackett, is targeting automatic promotion, with new signings Conor Coady and Jed Wallace adding a lot of excitement around Molineux.
