Jürgen Klopp says he will not ring the changes for Liverpool's EFL Cup clash with Burton Albion on Tuesday night, but admitted that by contrast he won't name a full-strength side.

The Reds open their domestic cup campaign at the Pirelli Stadium fresh from their drab defeat to Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

But Klopp says that he won't be making changes en masse against their Championship opposition because his players are fit enough to handle two games in a week.

Klopp rules out possibility of full changes

Asked about whether he would make changes in his pre-match press conference, he acknowledged that "of course" they will but insisted Liverpool won't make "every change" ahead of the club's first-ever meeting with Burton.

The German told reporters that his selection "depends a little bit" on the injury report from the club's doctor, but said that it's "not likely" they will "change seven or eight positions" because that's "not the plan" and he is "not sure we could."

Klopp declared that it is "an important game" for his side in which they must show that they "can do better than last Saturday."

The Reds boss believes that wholesale changes aren't necessary because, at such an early stage of the season, his players are in good fitness.

He said that they "respect the opponent" and that it's "not the moment to rest somebody", but added: "We have a few players now in a good shape and they have two weeks more [of] pre-season."

Klopp explained that when his players are "healthy and fit" then they "have to give them a chance" and said that if changes "can help us then" then they will make them.

But he says he should be able to call upon many of his regular starters against Nigel Clough's side because Monday's training session is "not the highest intensity of training" and it's "not like" the players "can train so good" that he will change his mind suitably.

Instead, Klopp said that the team he starts with will be based on "which kind of opportunities we have, who can be used [and] who is in what shape" which he added is what they "try to figure out in the next 24 hours."

No fresh injuries to worry about, reveals Klopp

Klopp also said that his available options for their clash with the Brewers are boosted by having no new injury problems, though he spoke of a few minor issues that his players have.

He confirmed that they have "no real injuries" but said they have some "issues", refusing to name the players struggling from knocks because it's "possible" they "can still play" and he has not "made a final decision."

"At the moment, I'd say everyone who was available last week is available, plus one or two players if we need them," Klopp continued.

He also acknowledged the "few players" they have out "with longer injuries" such as Lucas Leiva, whom he said "are not back in training", but said they "have other players we can use" so "should not force" the returning players back.
