Jürgen Klopp's Liverpool have made a fine start to the Premier League season as they sit fourth in the table, with a game in hand, boasting a total of 16 points.
Their next game promises to be a turning point in their season as rivals Manchester United come knocking on the gates of Anfield.
As fired up as all Liverpool fans are for this game, Klopp has expressed his own excitement for the game in saying that the club is "really looking forward" to the game which should be "fantastic" for the fans.
Seeing is believing says Klopp
Klopp spoke to the Liverpool Echo and recalled the clashes against United in the memorable Europa League campaign that the Reds enjoyed last season.
Klopp described the games as "intense and competitive." The clashes were certainly a reminder of the historical rivalry that both clubs share and how high the stakes are in the meetings between the two.
Liverpool have always been strong at home and Klopp said that the Reds were "better in the first game at Anfield", the team was enjoying a "fantastic atmosphere", and the German believes his players were "inspired" by that.
He also recollected his memories of the game at Old Trafford, where Liverpool drew 1-1 thanks to a special goal from Philippe Coutinho. Klopp said: "Maybe people don’t like to hear it, but there was actually quite a good atmosphere there too!"
Klopp spoke about the second-leg and highlighted the importance of what a "good atmosphere" can do for the players and praised his player's performances in saying that they "killed" the atmosphere after Coutinho's equaliser, after which, the boss said that the game "wasn't difficult anymore."
Klopp also spoke about the importance of the upcoming game which will serve as a real proof of Liverpool's ambitions this season and how far they want to go,"“It’s a perfect moment for ‘Seeing is Believing’", says the Reds Boss and that this game will "have to be seen for people to believe what will happen".
Liverpool has optimistic view about the future
Klopp reflected on the past 12 months and assessed the team's development thus far and said that "It’s been a busy, intense year" for the club and its players.
Liverpool haven't always had the last laugh in games and their consistency has come into question every now and then, but the Reds seem to have found a way of late to grind out victories and minimise the lows they have this season.
Klopp admitted that there have been "a few ups and a few downs" but he insists that the club always have an "optimistic view" about the future and believes that the club "still have that."
The Reds manager explained the importance of a good chemistry within the team and spoke positively about the team atmosphere at Liverpool and said that, "We all enjoy working together and it’s much better when you enjoy it."
Klopp spoke about his hopes for "many more years" as Liverpool manager and exclaimed at how quickly the time has passed during his time as manager. He was quick to point out that he "never thought about the speed or the tempo" of Liverpool's progress and that the only thing that was important to him, was that the team "had to get better."
"Even when you are good, you need to get better because the teams around you all get better too" says Klopp and concluded by saying that to be in the race for the title, "development is everything."
