Goodnight guys.
Jurgen Klopp to BT Sport
"With the situations we had, we usually score more. Credit to the goalie. It's half-time, we have better result, we know more about the opponent. We are aware of the quality. We will be ready again for Benfica."
Jurgen Klopp to BT Sport
"Benfica fought for their lives. We opened the door a bit too much, but Benfica deserved the goal."
Andy Robertson to BT Sport
"It was a tough game, we were on top but we wanted to keep it tight. The goal lifted them, we started to get sloppy so the third goal was big. But there is still work to do."

Benfica substitute
Soualiho Meite replaces Adel Taarabt for the home team.

The half-time whistle brings an entertaining first-half to an end.
Jurgen Klopp will be the happier of the two coaches.
His side have looked like they could have been 3/4-0 up already.
44' Action at both ends
Nunez attempts to get the best of Konate, but the Frenchman is having none of it.
Then, Alexander-Arnold sends the ball to Mo Salah, through on goal, but he could only fire straight at Vlachodimos.
Rafa then goes down the other end, and gets past Van Dijk, but ultimately is caught by the Dutchman and fires over.
38' Diaz fizzes one just wide

36' GOALLLLL 2-0
Sadio Mane taps in after Diaz heads it across the face of goal for him from Alexander-Arnold's searching ball.
It all came from Taarabt losing the ball for the home team.

Former Man City man Nicholas Otamendi had a glorious chance if he could have connected with the ball from a corner.
However, he could not meet the ball and the chance went begging after Van Dijk had put the ball out.

Nothing given.

Liverpool are carving them up with ease, it could be 3 or 4 already.24' Diaz close
A brilliant pass from Naby Keita sets Diaz away but his dinked attempt is stood up by Vlachodimos.

Everton gets through on Liverpool's right, but like their city rivals of the same name, is nowhere near threatening the Reds as he fires his shot into the side netting.

Keita should make it two, he heads Mane's cross into the ground.
It was a glorious chance.
17' GOALLLLLL

Benfica vs Liverpool prediction
My prediction for the game is a 2-0 Liverpool win.
Whilst I have considered the history of the fixture, Jurgen Klopp's side are the best Liverpool team I have seen in my lifetime.
The amount of different, quality attacking options they possess should see them through this tricky tie.
As Benfica are 15 points behind Porto, who the Reds beat with relative ease in the Group Stages, it should be a fairly straight-forward progression to the semi-finals.
Past meetings
There have been 10 meetings between the sides.
Liverpool have won six, whilst Benfica have won four.
The Reds have lost on their last three visits to Lisbon, 1-0 in November 1984 (European Cup, 2nd round), 1-0 in February 2006 (Champions League, last-16, first-leg) and 2-1 in April 2010 (Europa League, quarter-final, first-leg)
They are however unbeaten in their last eight Champions League games against Portuguese opposition (W6, D2). Although, all eight games have been against FC Porto.
Liverpool's Key Player: Trent Alexander-Arnold
The return of Trent Alexander-Arnold comes at the perfect time for Jurgen Klopp.
As his side attempt a tilt at an unprecedented quadruple, they need their creative force to be at his best.
The 23 year-old has been consistently brilliant this season, and would arguably be the favourite for the Premier League Player of The Season award, if it was not for teammate Mo Salah.
As the Egyptian might be rested tonight, I have gone with the 17-assist man to be the Reds key player in Portugal.
Benfica's Key Player: Darwin Nunez
Darwin Nunez has scored 21 goals in 23 league games this season.
He also has 4 in 8 UEFA Champions League matches, including the goal that knocked Ajax out in the last round.
The Uruguayan hitman has reportedly been scouted by Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham and even tonight's opponents.
Virgil Van Dijk and whoever partners him tonight will have a big job on their hands, going up against the 22-year-old.
Team News: Liverpool
Trent Alexander-Arnold was on the bench for the 2-0 win over Watford, but could make his comeback at the Estadio da Luz.
Naby Keita is expected to return from a knee injury and could start if Jurgen Klopp decides to rest Thiago for Sunday.
Curtis Jones and Joel Matip are expected to be fit, despite picking up knocks against the Hornets.
Mohamed Salah looked shattered on Saturday, so maybe Sadio Mané or Luis Diaz will get the nod.
Predicted Liverpool XI:
Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Keita, Henderson, Jota, Mané, Diaz
Team News: Benfica
Haris Seferovic returned from the bench against Braga on Friday night.
Rodrigo Pinho and Lucas Verissimo are absent.
Adel Taarabt missed the Braga match but he has trained since and should be fine.
Darwin Nunez should return to the the starting XI.
Predicted Benfica XI: Vlachodimos; Gilberto, Otamendi, Vertonghen, Grimaldo; Silva, Mario, Weigl, Everton; Nunez, Yaremchuk
Referee: Jesús Gil Manzano
The referee for Benfica vs Liverpool is Jesús Gil Manzano.
His assistants will be Diego Barbero and Ángel Nevado.
The fourth official is José María Sánchez.
Alejandro Hernández and Ricardo de Burgos will assist with VAR.
Liverpool: looking to continue great form
Liverpool have won their last four, since a 1-0 loss to Inter Milan in the last round of the Champions League.
They face a tough April, with six games in 20 days after tonight's away trip to Lisbon, including Sunday's trip to leader's Manchester City and an FA Cup against the same opponents.
SL Benfica: 15 points off top!
The Reds' opponents tonight are third in the Primeira Liga,15 points behind leaders FC Porto and 9 points behind local rivals Sporting.
They have scored only one less goal than Porto (14 more than Sporting) but have conceded nine more goals than Porto and 11 more than Sporting.
The match will be played at the Estadio da Luz!
The Benfica vs Liverpool quarter-final first-leg match will be played at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon, Portugal, with a capacity of 64,642 people.
The stadium hosted the 2020 UEFA Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich
