Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom is subject to interest from Brendan Rodgers' Celtic with any future on Merseyside looking unlikely.

The 23-year-old was sent out on loan to Norwich City after they were promoted last summer, but made just 14 appearances for the struggling Canaries in all competitions.

With no apparent long-term future under Jürgen Klopp, the defender could be set for a reunion with the former Liverpool manager in Glasgow as the Northern Irishman's first signing.

Rodgers, who joined the reigning champions at Celtic Park last month, signed Wisdom to a new contract last May to commit his future to the club until 2019 and supposedly sees the England Under-21 international as a useful defensive option as he shapes his own squad.

The Bhoys have yet to make any official approach for Wisdom, who can play at centre-back and full-back, but the Liverpool ECHO report that they could be willing to pay as much as £3 million for him.

The Reds' No.47 has been at the club since the age of 14, when he joined from Bradford City in January 2008, but had to wait until September 2012 to make his senior debut under Rodgers in the Europa League group stages, scoring a header in a 5-3 win.

That season, Rodgers' first at the helm, Wisdom made a total of 19 appearances - 12 of which came in the Premier League - but he fell out-of-favour the next year as a settled starting eleven went close to winning the title.

He was loaned out to Derby County from October and became an ever-present member of a side that only lost out on promotion to Queens Park Rangers in the Championship play-off final.

The next season - with chances still few and far between - Wisdom was loaned out to West Bromwich Albion, where he made 26 appearances in league and cup competitions, featuring just twice after January 31st.

His spell with Norwich this season was just as underwhelming, the defender struggling to become a real mainstay despite featuring for a side that leaked 67 goals in 38 league games and it looks unlikely that he will fulfil his potential at Anfield

Wisdom, who hasn't received any guarantees about his playing time under Klopp, could be one of several casualties to leave the club this summer as the German strengthens at the back. He has already signed Joel Matip on a free from Schalke, while a number of left-backs have been linked including Ben Chilwell of Leicester City.

Liverpool have also rejected the proposal of promising young defender Joe Gomez, currently coming back from a serious knee injury, spending next season on loan at Celtic.
