Cheshire Phoenix have today announced that they have resigned point-guard Disraeli Lufadeju for the 2020/21 season.

Lufadeju signs for his third year with the Nix following a successful campaign last year, which was unfortunately cut short due the coronavirus pandemic.

The 28-year-old is well versed with the British Basketball League, as he will be heading into his seventh year in a league which he is now a well established name in.

Lufadeju’s Career In Numbers

The 2019/20 season was a year of success for the British-American guard, as he put up career numbers in some vital categories.

Lufadeju had his most successful shooting season, averaging 6.8 points through thirteen games for Cheshire, along with a career high 2.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds.

Not only this, Lufadeju also had a very successful season with his efficiency, as he shot 43.5% from the field, and 73% from the free-throw line, both again career highs in the BBL.

Disraeli began his professional year in the BBL with the Worcester Wolves where he played 67 games.

During his early career, he picked up most of his minutes off the bench, but did have his most efficient three point season in his first year with the Wolves, as he shot 36%.

Following on from three years at the Wolves, Lufadeju spent a year with Leeds Force, before a one year stint with NBL Division 1 team Bradford Dragons, which caused big interest from the Phoenix over the point guards signature.

Lufadeju On His Return

Following the guards career year on the court, Lufadeju made it clear how he saw his future with the Phoenix, and believes he will play another prominent role in the sides success this year.

Lufadeju said: “I’m really excited to be signing again with Cheshire Phoenix because I feel like I have started to establish myself a little bit more in the league and I’m very comfortable here.

I know what to expect and since I’ve been here I have progressed as a player, so I am excited to progress even more and hopefully win some silverware.”

“Much More To Come” Expects Coach Thomas

Coach Thomas is excited to be able to see the return of fan favourite Lufadeju to the Cheshire Oaks Arena, and knows that there is a lot to come from the 6”1 guard.

Coach Thomas said, “I’m really happy to have Dizzie back with us, he has improved a lot over the last couple of seasons and we know there is much more to come.

“His work rate during games is always really good but it is away from the games when you really see how much he wants to perform for the team.

“I know this is what has made him a fan favourite over the last couple of seasons and we are expecting much of the same next season.”
