In a somewhat controversial move, Jamie Ward has completed his move to Nottingham Forest from arch-rivals Derby County.

The forward signs on a free transfer after he was released by Forest's East Midlands' rivals in May.

Ward spent four full seasons at the iPro Stadium but was deemed surplus to requirements at the expiry of his contract as he struggled to make an impact in the side's first-team last campaign.

The 29-year-old joined the Rams in 2011, initially on loan, before making a permanent move from Sheffield United the following summer for an undisclosed fee.

Ward made his debut in a 0-0 draw with Scunthorpe United in February 2011 and went on to make an additional 12 more appearances during his loan spell whilst under the regime of Nigel Clough.

The former Aston Villa youth player struggled with niggly injuries at times under Clough's spell. He made his biggest impact for Derby under Steve McClaren as he helped lead the side to the Championship play-off final in the 2013-14 season.

He scored his first goal as a full Derby County player in controversial circumstances in a 2-1 win over Forest at The City Ground on 17 September 2011. Whilst Reds skipper Chris Cohen was down nursing an injury Ward played on and scored despite calls from the opposition to knock the ball out.

The Northern Ireland international, who has been capped by his country on 13 occassions, scored against the Nottingham-side again on 19th January 2013 in a 1-1 draw at the iPro Stadium.

Can Forest fans look past his time with Derby?

Ward developed a bad relationship with many Nottingham Forest fans due to his 'wind-up' nature over his four years with Derby, often mimicking the scoreline when the result was in his side's favour.

But the player insists he is determined to win over the Forest faithful and hopes they will quickly forget his past with Derby.

The winger leaves the Rams having made 148 appearances in all competitions, scoring 34 goals.

Ward has signed a four-year-deal with Dougie Freedman's side becoming the club's second signing the summer after Matt Mills arrived in Nottingham from Bolton Wanderers.
