Walter Mazzarri not concerned by Watford's lack of discipline

Watford boss Walter Mazzarri was not fazed when he was told that his team top the table for the amount of yellow cards handed out so far this season.

The Hornets have picked up a total of 25 yellow cards so far this season, two more than any other team in the Premier League after nine games.

Jonathan Moss will take charge of the Hornets' game on Saturday against Hull City. Last time Moss refereed a game involving Watford, it was against Chelsea and saw him show the team seven yellow cards.

Hornets racking up the yellows

On average Moss shows two yellow cards per every Watford game he has officiated, having overseen seven in total. While the referee has not show a Hornet player a red yet, he has shown two already this season, to Manchester City’s Nolito and Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka

Watford will be hoping that Moss doesn't show any more cards this weekend as Greek defender Jose Holebas is one away from a suspension. The defender is quickly followed by captain Troy Deeney and Valon Behrami, who both have three yellows to their name.

Sebastian Prodl, Miguel Britos, Roberto Pereyra, Nordin Amrabat,  Craig Cathcart,  Etienne Capoue, Isaac Success, Odion Ighalo, Adlene Guedioura, Stefano Okaka and Heurelho Gomes have also all picked up cards, contributing to Watford’s high tally.

Shows determination says Mazzarri

The Hornets have seen 25 yellow cards and one red this season alone, suggesting a lack of discipline from Mazzarri’s men. However, the Italian was untroubled by the comment replying “I really don’t see any problem.”

Mazzarri added that “if it is just fighting for the ball” it shows the players commitment to the game as well as know-how and good game management, hence he doesn't “see any problem.”

Yet the manager was quick to rule out foul play adding that he would be “angry” if “there are any serious fouls or punches.
