Alex Ouandie is the latest signing for the Manchester Giants as the team prepares for the upcoming season, playing at the National Basketball Performance Centre for the first time.

The Giants have already added Jack Hudson, Sam Cassell Jr, Jordan Whelan, Donovan Johnson, Lyle Hexom, and Breaon Brady to their 2020-21 British Basketball League season squad.

It's going to be an exciting season in Manchester, and the addition of Ouandie will only make the Giants a more attractive team to watch.

Exciting talent with the stats to prove

Ouandie, now 23, played at the highest level in Bulgaria at just the age of 18, playing for hometown club Levski Sofia.

During his time in the Bulgarian capital, Ouandie made 17 appearances, as well as playing for VidaBasket in the same season - averaging 21 points, six rebounds, and two assists.

The former Bulgaria U20 international also enjoyed two years in the US at college, leading the Cuesta College team in scoring throughout his time there.

During his time at Cuesta, Ouandie even faced up against new teammates Breaon Brady and Lyle Hexom who at the time both played for Saddleback College.

After his time in the US ended, Ouandie returned to Europe where he signed for Italian Serie C side Agropoli, scoring 821 points over his two-year stay.

At the end of last season, Ouandie was arguably one of the best players in the entire league, leading in scoring - while hitting at least 30 in three games.

Top of the targets list

Speaking to the Manchester Giants website, Head Coach Danny Byrne said Ouandie was at the top of their targets list while scouting Europe for talent.

“We have had a good contingent of European players here in the past, and heavily scouted the continent to find the right player to take us forward on that front," said Byrne.

"Alex was top of our list, and we think he’s ready to step straight into the BBL.

“He is big, quick, and very versatile offensively – another exciting talent who can put points on the board in a hurry.

"He is a lefty who can score inside and out, giving us another potential forty-percent plus three-point threat.

“At only 23-years-old he already has a vast amount of experience, having played in three countries, at varying levels, and also internationally; mature above his years on the court, and we hope he can build his future with us here in Manchester.”
