With two wins from two, and yet to concede a goal, it is Veljko Paunovic's side that lead the way in the Championship.

Consecutive 2-0 wins away to Derby County and at home to Barnsley last week mean the visitors top the table for the first time since 2012.

The hosts, meanwhile, have endured a mixed start to the season after reaching last season's play-off's- having beaten Nottingham Forest but losing to bottom club Sheffield Wednesday on the opening weekend.

Ones to Watch

For both sides the key to their successes so far have been their centre-forwards, namely Kieffer Moore for the hosts and Lucas Joao for the travelling side.

Moore, having signed this summer from Wigan Athletic for roughly £2 million, has scored both of the goals that Neil Harris' side have accumulated.

A typical 'number nine' who loves dangerous crosses, Joao for Reading offers his threat in a different way.

Although his height would suggest that he would feed off of crosses, the six foot plus star is no slouch.

Offering pace in behind and a delicate first touch, the former Sheffield Wednesday attacker would much rather a ball to run on to, or the opportunity to beat a defender, than to head in a drilled cross.

His hattrick against Colchester United in the Carabao Cup and his goal against the Rams on the opening day make him the side's top scorer so far.

The main drawback of the Portuguese international is that he is injury-prone, missing 18 matches for the club last season.

Previous Meeting

The two sides met four times last season, with two FA Cup matches on top of the two league meetings.

The Bluebirds failed to beat Reading last season, with a 3-0 Royals win in August followed by three 1-1 draws in league and cup, with Mark Bowen's team beating the Welsh outfit on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw in the FA Cup Fourth Round replay.

Team News

Midfielder Lee Tomlin is still not ready to make his first league start of the season after injury.

Right-back Andy Yiadom is expected to be out for a number of weeks after his injury against Derby on the opening day, therefore Brazilian Felipe Araruna is likely to fill in, as he did for the last game against Barnsley.

Ivorian Yakou Meite could return to the starting side following his goal as a substitute last weekend.

Predicted Lineups

Cardiff City: Smithies; Osei-Tutu, Morrison, Nelson, Bennett; Bacuna, Ralls, Pack; Ojo, Moore, Hoilett.

Reading: Cabral; Araruna, Morrison, Moore, Richards; Rinomhota, Laurent; Olise, Swift, Ejaria; Joao.

Manager Thoughts

Harris is expecting to have to play very well in order to pick up any points against Reading on Saturday

He told the club website:

"If you can win two or three games in a row it shoots you up the division, the same as losing three or four. That’s where consistency becomes vital over a period of time. We didn’t have it in our first game, but in the second game we were very good.

“This week, to do the same against Reading, we'll have to play very well. We'll have to be solid defensively against a very good front four, and create goal scoring opportunities from a combination of fluent football, set-plays and direct play."

Similarly Paunovic is wary of the opposition, and is warning fans not to get too carried away with the impressive side.

He told the club website:

"We have to be careful with expectations, this season has just begun. We are only at the very start. A good start to the season is always what we want to have, but we will approach one game at a time and play to win every game.

“They are a good team though coming from a good result. We know their strengths. And, on the other side, we know what we can do well and this is what we can improve.”
