The prospect of a number of ex-WWE performers returning to the company seems to be one of the most consistent talking points today.

Names such as Kurt Angle, Goldberg, MVP and many more have been linked with returns in the hope to boost the wavering audience of the biggest wrestling company in the world.

One name that flew under the radar was that of Rob Van Dam, as the 45-year-old announced during the Buzzard Wrestling Podcast that he would not be returning to WWE.

The former Money in the Bank winner revealed what the company had planned for him if he accepted their offer, and he may have made the right decision.

WWE according to RVD wanted to include him in the now ended rivalry between The Dudley Boyz and The Wyatt Family in October 2015, something which did not fit the veteran's high hopes.

The former ECW Champion may have passed up the offer so the company turned their heads towards Tommy Dreamer and Rhyno to fill the role.

He said, "It was not a real good time for me and that affected the dollar amount it would take to make it worth my while and that was the last talk we had."

With concern over whether his relationship with the company was affected, he made a telling statement as he said that it "probably left an impression on them" but that he was "totally fine" with that.

Stars returning

Over the past year or so it is not just Van Dam that will have been contacted over stepping back into the squared circle of WWE.

Kurt Angle recently announced that he had been contacted by Triple H but that there was no really engaging story for him to return into which has halted any impending return.

Goldberg is one of the most expected talents to enter the ring in the near future with a storyline between him and Brock Lesnar brewing in what would see a rematch of their infamous WrestleMania XX match.

Shelton Benjamin was set to make a grand return to SmackDown Live earlier this month but a severe injury put a spanner in the works and it seems that spot has now gone to Curt Hawkins.
