David Parker will be happy with how well his team has defended throughout the game and will be looking for them to sneak a goal now. His goalkeeper, Berger, has been outstanding as well.

It should be mentioned that with his substitutions, Nick Cushing has made a tactical chance. Christiansen and Scott are playing almost as strikers now at different opportunities as City try to find the winner here.

82' Some spaces opening up now as both sets of players begin to tire.

77' Some confusion occurs about a Birmingham throw-in and if not for Berger's quick thinking, Manchester City would be in on goal.

75' SUBSTITUTION: Charlie Wellings comes in for Linnett.

73' CHANCE! Asllani pulls out a brilliant turn to get into the box but her touch is just too strong and Berger gets to it after coming out quickly to smother the ball.

Half-time. Manchester City are in control here but a combination of Berger and final passes letting them down keeps the score line as is.

44' Parris and Bronze combine again but Parris tries one pass too many to find Christiansen instead of taking a shot and the chance goes away.

41' Izzy Christiansen finds Stokes out wide with a good through ball but the left-back's delivery leaves much to be desired.

39' CHANCE! Beattie finds Duggan with a long ball over the top. Duggan breaks away from her marker but her shot is well-saved by Berger again.

37' CHANCE! Bronze bombs forward again and her touch falls to Parris who's shot is quickly closed down by Berger. The offside flag is raised however and the opportunity goes away.

36' Stokes put sin a cross that's behind the City attackers but it falls to Bronze who takes a whack at it. It goes high over the crossbar.

Manchester City Women 2, Birmingham City Ladies 0.

Prediction: Birmingham have proved to be tough opposition for any team due to results in the league and in their journey to the cup final but Manchester City just have too much quality for this to be anything other than a cup title for them. Birmingham can certainly makes things interesting and could push Manchester City all the way but the likes of Duggan or Kosovare Asllani will find a way through a resolute Birmingham side to give City the win.

The head coach for Manchester City is Nick Cushing and his opposite number on the day will be Birmingham City's head coach, David Parker.

Berger; Carter, Harrop, Ayisi, Linnett; Hegerberg, Stringer, Lawley, Westwood, Haines; Mannion.

Projected Lineup: Birmingham City Ladies (4-5-1).

Bardsley; Bronze, Beattie, Houghton, Stokes; Scott, Walsh, Christiansen, Parris; Duggan, Ross.

Projected Lineup: Manchester City Women (4-4-2).

Here are the projected line ups for Manchester City and Birmingham City.

The match will be played at the Academy Stadium in Manchester. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00PM GMT.

The last meeting between these two teams was on April 24th at Sohill Moors FC where Manchester City ran out as 2-0 winners over Birmingham. A similar result to that will suit Manchester City just fine as they look to end their cup run in style.

Birmingham do not have as many well-known names as their opponents today do but that should not discount the tactical awareness and togetherness that they have showed throughout their run to the final. A last gasp win against Liverpool FC Ladies should show all that will be watching that this team does not give up and will try to cause Manchester City problems all match long. Forward Coral-Jade Haines is always a threat and if Birmingham can provide her with the right kind of service in the box, Haines will find the back of the net for them on most occassions.

On the opposite side of the pitch today is Birmingham City Ladies. The Blues have had a slightly different road to the final but their dominant four-nil win over the London Bees should send a notice to all that they will not give up this cup final without a fight. Birmingham will also be looking to give their captain and long-time servant, Kerys Harrop a trophy at the third time of asking. Harrop may not get a better chance at picking up a cup with the team she has faithfully played for throughout the years and her teammates will be motivated to win this final for her as well.

At the back four, captain Steph Houghton has been in imperious form and her partner in the heart of that back line, Jennifer Beattie. has helped anchor a formidable defense. Beattie scored the winning goal against Arsenal that sent Manchester City to the final and if she and Houghton, aided by the likes of Lucy Bronze and goalkeeper Karen Bardsley, keep their consistency going in this match, Manchester City fans will have every reason to believe that their team will win this final convincingly and without too much of a struggle.

Almost everywhere you look at the Manchester City side, there is quality running through it and their bench offers a good look at the depth they have managed to acquire this season as well. Right at the tip of their attack is Toni Duggan who is a dangerous opponent for any defender. Duggan's goal helped Manchester secure the WSL title and she will be hoping to add to her goals this season with another goal that will aid her team to potentially their first double in the club's history.

Manchester City come into this final as the heavy favourites. To get to the final, they had to find a way past a resilient Arsenal FC Ladies in the semi-final, which they managed to do with a one-nil win over their rivals. The front runners have also wrapped up the WSL title and will hope to add another trophy to their outstanding season so far by winning today. If any team can complete the double, this team can with the talent they have at hand and many see them as the outright winners today, even though anything can happen in a cup final.
