Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers spoke about his side's attacking philosophy ahead of the Premier League game against Arsenal after the Foxes rediscovered their goalscoring form against Crystal Palace.

The Northern Irishman has been tinkering with formations in a bid to reignite the creative spark that his side had lacked since the restarting of the league.

These shifts led to three second-half goals for the East Midlands side as top scorer Jamie Vardy reached a century of Premier League goals.

'You have to look at the opponent as well'

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Rodgers assessed his tactical shifts.

He said: “I’ve always liked my teams to play in different systems. We got back some creativity and some aggression in our structure. I needed to look at something different to get some creativity back in the team. Our philosophy is to attack. That definitely helped us. But it’s each game, you have to look at the opponent as well."

Turning his attention to his side's position in the league, Rodgers added: “What the players have done to this point is remarkable. If you think of the teams in front of us, two of the greatest teams the Premier League has ever produced. To be producing that level of consistency - and we have had bumps - the players have been brilliant up to this point. The league is so competitive. Not just with the top clubs. For us to be in amongst it, is very good."

'Everyone knows he’s a rascal at times'

Vardy reached a century of goals in the league against Palace, and Rodgers was full of praise for the star striker.

“Every path is different and his path was right for him. It’s remarkable what he has achieved since becoming a professional player. There’s very few players that make the movement for his second goal at the weekend. It frightens the life out of people. You just sense from the home crowd that fear and there’s not too many players in the world that give you that. Because of his speed and how deadly he is. I’m very fortunate to have him in my team."

He added: "He didn’t have the perfect life at all. He struggled in his teens. Everyone knows he’s a rascal at times. Coming in to professional football wasn’t easy for him, I know his first year was difficult.”
