Australian defender Jenna McCormick has joined Real Betis in the Primera Iberdrola after her contract with the Melbourne Victory ended.
She is one of a number of Australian's who have departed the W-League this summer, including Matildas Vice-Captain Steph Catley, who joined Arsenal earlier in the window.
McCormick has signed a deal which will keep her with Betis for two years, and she is the side's fifth signing of the summer.
Move to Seville
Real Betis announced the signing of McCormick on Wednesday afternoon, using an edited video of the announcement of Australia being given the 2023 Women's World Cup.
¡Hola, @TheMatildas! 👋🏼😊 Nos gustó tanto vuestra celebración como sede del próximo Mundial, que no hemos podido evitarlo... 😅🆕✍

She will strengthen Los Verdiblancos' defensive line, looking to improve on the 12th place finish that was seen in this season's Primera Iberdrola.
Betis improved slightly after original manager Antonio Contreras was sacked in December of 2019, climbing from 15th to 12th in the months after.
Career so far
Four caps so far for her nation, she has played in Australia for a most of her career, with stints at Stjarnan in Iceland and Medkila in Norway the only exceptions.
She won the Icelandic top-flight back in 2016 whilst she was playing for Stjarnan.
Most recently, she was playing for the Melbourne Victory and won her only W-League title back in 2016/17 with Canberra United.
Unlike many other players, McCormick has played other sports at the top level as well as football. While at Adelaide United, she expressed an interest in joining the newly-formed AFLW and played Australian Rules Football with Adelaide in the competition for three seasons, making 20 appearances.
